Hargon is the High Priest and the penultimate boss of Dragon Quest II, found at the end of Hargon's Castle. He is a powerful magic-user who can cast devastating offensive spells like Explodet and Defeat, as well as healing spells on himself. He also has a high physical attack. Recommended Party Level: 25-30.
Strategy:
- Phase 1: Hargon
- Prince of Midenhall: Focus on physical attacks with your strongest weapon. Keep his HP high.
- Prince of Cannock: Use Healmore to keep the party healthy. If healing isn't immediately needed, cast Attack or Firebane. Consider using Stopspell if it lands, but his resistance is high.
- Princess of Moonbrooke: Unleash your most powerful offensive spells, primarily Explodet. If the party is taking heavy magic damage, cast Barrier. Keep an eye on her MP.
- Items: Use Herbs or Magic Water if MP is low for healers.
Hargon will frequently heal himself, so consistent damage output is crucial. Prioritize keeping your Princess alive, as her Explodet is your main source of damage against him. Once Hargon is defeated, a short scene will play, and the true final boss will appear.
