Hargon Boss Strategy
Hargon, the High Priest and the primary antagonist of Dragon Quest II, presents a formidable magical challenge. This battle takes place in his castle and requires a strategic approach to overcome his potent offensive and defensive capabilities. It is strongly advised to have your party at a minimum level of 28, with higher levels providing a significant advantage. Ensure all party members are equipped with the best available gear, prioritizing magical defense for the Princess of Moonbrooke and the Prince of Cannock. Ample supplies of Magic Water and Full Moon Herbs are essential for sustained combat.
Hargon is a master of dark magic, capable of unleashing devastating spells like Explodet, which can deal massive damage to your entire party, and Defeat, which can instantly incapacitate a character. He also possesses a strong physical attack and can even cast healing spells on himself, making him a persistent threat. The Prince of Midenhall should focus on dealing consistent physical damage, while the Princess of Moonbrooke should be dedicated to healing and buffing the party with spells like Insulatle to reduce magical damage. The Prince of Cannock can provide crucial support with offensive spells like Infernus or by using his physical attacks when MP is low.
Managing your MP is critical throughout this fight. Prioritize healing and defensive buffs when Hargon is not actively attacking. If he begins to cast a powerful spell, consider using the Prince of Midenhall's Shield of Valour or the Princess of Moonbrooke's Insulatle to mitigate the damage. If a party member is incapacitated by Defeat, the Prince of Midenhall's Revive spell should be used immediately. Persistence and careful resource management are key to defeating Hargon.
