Introduction

Welcome, brave hero, to the world of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation! This guide will accompany you on your epic journey to defeat the Archfiend Baramos and save the world. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a newcomer to the classic RPG, this walkthrough aims to provide comprehensive, actionable steps to ensure your success. We'll cover everything from initial character creation to navigating treacherous dungeons and vanquishing formidable foes.

The Hero's Awakening

Your adventure begins in the peaceful kingdom of Aliahan, on your 16th birthday. After a brief, prophetic dream, your mother will rouse you. This is your first opportunity to interact with the world and prepare for your destiny.

  1. Speak with your Mother: She will give you 50 Gold Coins and instruct you to visit the King.
  2. Explore Your Home:
    • Check the dresser in your room for a T'n'T Ticket. These are valuable for the Ticket 'n' Tantalus mini-game later on.
    • Head downstairs and speak to your mother again if you wish, though she has no new information.
  3. Visit the King of Aliahan:
    • Exit your home and proceed north through the town. The castle is the large structure at the northern end.
    • Enter the castle and go straight north to the throne room.
    • Speak with the King. He will reveal your father Ortega's heroic, yet ultimately tragic, attempt to defeat Baramos and task you with completing his mission. He will also direct you to Patty's Party Planning Place to recruit companions.

Assembling Your Party

Before you can truly begin your quest, you'll need a reliable team. Patty's Party Planning Place is where you'll create and recruit your fellow adventurers. This is a critical step, as your party composition will heavily influence your early game strategy and overall success.

  1. Locate Patty's Party Planning Place:
    • Exit Aliahan Castle and head east. You'll find a building with a sign depicting a person. Enter it.
  2. Speak with Patty: She will explain the process of recruiting new party members.
  3. Create Your Companions:
    • You can recruit up to three additional party members. Consider a balanced team for your first playthrough. A common and effective early-game setup includes:
      • Warrior: High HP and attack, excellent front-line damage dealer.
      • Pilgrim (Cleric): Essential for healing spells (Heal, Squelch) and defensive buffs.
      • Mage (Wizard): Provides powerful offensive magic (Blaze, Woosh) for clearing groups of enemies.
    • Experiment with other vocations like Martial Artist (high agility, critical hits) or Merchant (earns more gold, useful later for establishing a town) if you feel adventurous.
    • Pay attention to the initial personality assigned to each character, as this affects their stat growth. While not critical for a first playthrough, understanding personalities can optimize your team.
  4. Equip Your New Recruits:
    • After creating your party, head to the Weapon Shop and Armor Shop in Aliahan.
    • Prioritize purchasing a Copper Sword for your Warrior and any other basic weapons or armor you can afford for your other party members. Don't overspend; you'll find better gear soon.
    • Ensure your Pilgrim has a Staff and your Mage has a Club if you can afford them, as their starting attack power is low.

Initial Exploration and Grinding

With your party assembled and minimally equipped, it's time to gain some experience and gold before venturing too far. The area immediately surrounding Aliahan is perfect for this.

  1. Heal at the Inn: Before leaving town, ensure all your characters have full HP and MP by staying at the Aliahan Inn (costs 6 Gold).
  2. Battle Slimes and Horned Rabbits:
    • Exit Aliahan to the south. The enemies here are primarily Slimes and Horned Rabbits.
    • Focus on leveling your party to at least Level 3-4. This will give your Pilgrim access to the vital "Heal" spell, significantly improving your survivability.
    • Collect any dropped items, especially Medical Herbs, which are useful for emergency healing.
  3. Return to Aliahan Regularly:
    • When your HP or MP are low, or your inventory is full, return to Aliahan.
    • Heal at the Inn.
    • Sell any excess items you've collected at the Item Shop to earn more gold.
    • Purchase any better equipment you can now afford. A Leather Shield for your Hero or Warrior is a good early investment.

Once your party is around Level 4-5 and reasonably equipped, you'll be ready to leave the immediate vicinity of Aliahan and begin your true adventure by heading towards the first dungeon: the Cave of Enticement.
