Walkthrough: Chapter 2
Alena and the Tournament
Chapter 2 introduces us to Princess Alena of Zamoksva, a spirited martial artist who yearns for adventure beyond the castle walls. Her story begins in the castle of Zamoksva, where she feels stifled by her father's overprotective nature.
Zamoksva Castle Exploration
Upon gaining control of Alena, your first task is to explore Zamoksva Castle and gather information. This initial exploration is crucial for understanding the immediate goals and finding valuable items.
- Talk to everyone: Speak with all the castle residents, including the King, guards, and servants. Pay close attention to conversations about the upcoming tournament and Alena's desire to participate.
- Item Collection:
- Thief's Key: This essential item is found in the castle's basement. Head to the kitchen, then look for a staircase leading down. The key is in a pot or barrel. The Thief's Key will allow you to open red doors throughout the game.
- Seed of Agility: Check the dresser in Alena's room for this stat-boosting item.
- Medicinal Herb: Several can be found in pots and barrels around the castle, particularly in the kitchen and guard quarters.
- Breaking Out: To leave the castle, you'll need to find a way past the guards. After speaking with the King and being denied permission to leave, return to Alena's room. You'll overhear a conversation that reveals a secret passage. Look for a loose brick or a hidden switch in the wall of her room to access the castle's exterior.
Zamoksva Town and the World Map
Once outside the castle, you'll find yourself in Zamoksva Town. This is your first opportunity to engage in combat and prepare for your journey.
- Equip Alena: Visit the Weapon Shop and Armor Shop in Zamoksva Town. While Alena starts with some basic equipment, consider upgrading her weapon to a Cypress Stick (if you haven't found one) or a Copper Sword if available and affordable. Prioritize defense with a Leather Shield and Leather Armor.
- Stock Up: The Item Shop is vital. Purchase several Medicinal Herbs and at least one Antidotal Herb.
- Grinding for Gold and Experience: Before venturing too far, spend some time fighting monsters around Zamoksva. Focus on defeating Slimes, She-Slimes, and Drackies. Aim to reach at least Level 3 or 4 to make the journey to the next town more manageable.
- Finding the East Cave: Your goal is to reach the town of Endor. To do this, you'll need to travel east. Follow the path leading out of Zamoksva Town to the east. You'll soon encounter a cave entrance. This is the East Cave.
The East Cave and Endor
The East Cave is a short but important dungeon that connects Zamoksva to Endor. Be prepared for a few encounters with stronger enemies than those found around Zamoksva.
- Enemies: Expect to face Horned Rabbits, Bunicorns, and sometimes even a Healslime. Prioritize defeating Healslimes quickly, as they can heal their allies.
- Navigation: The cave is fairly straightforward. Follow the main path, being mindful of any branching paths that might lead to treasure chests.
- Treasure: Look out for a chest containing a Seed of Strength. This is a valuable item that permanently boosts Alena's attack power.
- Exiting the Cave: Continue through the cave until you emerge on the other side. You'll now be on the world map, with Endor visible to the south.
Endor City
Endor is a bustling city and your primary destination for this part of the chapter. It's here that Alena hopes to enter the legendary Tournament.
- Explore the City:
- Weapon and Armor Shops: Check for better equipment. You might find a Bronze Knife or Iron Claw for Alena, and potentially a Scale Shield or Chain Mail.
- Item Shop: Replenish your supply of healing items.
- Inn: Rest and save your game frequently.
- Tournament Registration: Head to the large building in the center of Endor, which is the Colosseum. Speak to the officials there to learn about the tournament. You'll discover that you need a recommendation to enter.
- Finding the Recommendation: Talk to the various NPCs in Endor. You'll eventually learn about a wealthy merchant named Balzack who lives in the mansion in the northern part of town. He is the one who can provide the recommendation.
Balzack's Mansion and the Tournament
Balzack's Mansion holds the key to Alena's tournament entry, but it won't be a simple task.
- Entering the Mansion: Head to the large mansion in the northern section of Endor.
- The Maid's Request: Upon entering, you'll find a maid who is distressed about a missing item. She'll ask you to retrieve her Pouch, which was stolen by a monster.
- The Desert and the Monster:
- Exit Endor and head west into the desert area.
- Wander around the desert until you encounter a specific monster (often a Scorpion or Giant Slug) that drops the Pouch. This might take a few battles.
- Return to Balzack's Mansion and give the Pouch back to the maid.
- Balzack's Favor: Grateful for your help, the maid will speak to Balzack on your behalf. Balzack, impressed by Alena's strength and kindness, will agree to provide the recommendation for the tournament.
- The Tournament Begins: With the recommendation in hand, return to the Colosseum and register. The tournament battles are a series of one-on-one fights for Alena.
Tournament Strategy
The tournament consists of several rounds. Alena will fight alone, so ensure she is well-equipped and at a decent level (around Level 7-9 is recommended).
- Round 1: Attila the Hun - A straightforward fight. Attack consistently.
- Round 2: Borya - This opponent uses magic. Focus on dealing damage quickly before he can cast too many spells.
- Round 3: Psaro's Pawn - A tougher opponent. Maintain your attacks and use Medicinal Herbs if Alena's HP drops too low.
- Final Round: The Champ - This is the most challenging fight. The Champ hits hard. Use your strongest attacks and be prepared to use multiple Medicinal Herbs. If you're struggling, consider grinding a few more levels outside Endor.
After winning the tournament, Alena will be crowned champion, and the chapter will conclude, setting the stage for the next hero's journey.
