Walkthrough: Chapter 3

Welcome to Chapter 3, where you'll be taking on the role of Torneko Taloon, a merchant with grand ambitions! This chapter is all about making money, expanding your business, and eventually, getting your very own shop. Be prepared for a different pace of gameplay, focusing on trade and exploration rather than direct combat.

Lakanaba: The Starting Point

You begin your journey in the bustling town of Lakanaba. Your first goal is to earn enough money to open your own shop. This will require some shrewd trading and a bit of luck.

  • Initial Funds: Torneko starts with 1000 Gold.
  • Explore Lakanaba:
    • Torneko's House: Check the drawers for a Medical Herb.
    • Inn: Rest here to recover HP/MP. It costs 6 Gold.
    • Weapon Shop: You can buy a Copper Sword for 270 Gold (recommended early upgrade) and a Leather Shield for 90 Gold.
    • Armour Shop: Consider a Leather Armour for 150 Gold.
    • Item Shop: Stock up on Medical Herbs (8 Gold each) if needed.
    • Church: Save your game and get purified if cursed.
    • Well: There's a hidden Seed of Strength in the well. Talk to the man near the well, then climb down.
  • First Business Venture:
    • Head to the Weapon Shop and purchase a Steel Broadsword for 2000 Gold. You won't have enough initially, so you'll need to earn some money.
    • Strategy: Buy Medical Herbs (8 Gold) and sell them for 12 Gold to the old woman in the house north of the church. Repeat this until you have enough to buy the Steel Broadsword. This is a slow but steady way to build capital.
    • Once you have the Steel Broadsword, sell it to the merchant in the house directly south of the Weapon Shop for 3000 Gold. This is your first major profit!
  • The Cave to the North:
    • With your newfound wealth, equip Torneko with better gear. A Copper Sword and Leather Armour are good early investments.
    • Head north out of Lakanaba. You'll encounter weak monsters like Slimes and Hornets. Grind a bit to gain a few levels and some gold.
    • The cave entrance is just north of town. Enter the cave.
    • Inside the Cave:
      • On the first floor, you'll find a chest containing a Medical Herb.
      • Descend to the second floor. Navigate the winding paths. You'll find a chest with 100 Gold.
      • Continue deeper until you find a chest containing the Silver Statuette. This is a key item!
    • Return to Lakanaba.
  • Selling the Statuette:
    • Go to the house in the northeast corner of Lakanaba. Talk to the man inside.
    • He will offer to buy the Silver Statuette for 25000 Gold. Accept his offer! This is a huge boost to your funds.

Endor: The City of Dreams

Now that you have a substantial amount of gold, it's time to head to Endor, the city where you can finally open your shop.

  • Travel to Endor:
    • From Lakanaba, head south and then west. Follow the path through the mountains.
    • You'll eventually reach a bridge. Cross it and continue west to find Endor.
    • Warning: The monsters outside Lakanaba and on the way to Endor are slightly stronger. Be prepared for battles with Healslimes and Bunicorns. Torneko's HP is decent, but keep an eye on it.
  • Establishing Your Shop:
    • Upon arriving in Endor, explore the city. It's much larger than Lakanaba.
    • Locate the Castle of Endor in the north.
    • Find the empty shop building in the eastern part of the city.
    • Talk to the owner of the empty shop. He will offer to sell it to you for 35000 Gold. Purchase it!
    • Congratulations! You now own a shop.
  • Running Your Shop:
    • Once you own the shop, you'll need to stock it. Talk to your wife, who will now manage the shop.
    • You can buy items from the Item Shop in Endor and sell them in your own shop for a profit.
    • Recommended Trading Items:
      • Steel Broadsword: Buy for 2000 Gold, sell for 3000 Gold. (You've done this before!)
      • Iron Armour: Buy for 1000 Gold, sell for 1500 Gold.
      • Iron Shield: Buy for 700 Gold, sell for 1050 Gold.
    • The goal is to earn 60000 Gold in profit from your shop. This will take some time and repeated buying/selling.
    • Tip: You can leave your wife to manage the shop while you explore or grind for more money. She'll make sales automatically. Check back periodically to restock and collect profits.

The Endor Tournament and Beyond

While your shop is generating income, you'll need to complete a side quest to progress the story.

  • The Endor Tournament:
    • Head to the Castle of Endor.
    • Talk to the King. He will mention a tournament and ask you to find a champion.
    • Go to the Inn in Endor. You'll find a warrior named Psaro (or a similar name, depending on localization) who is looking for a fight.
    • Talk to him, and he will agree to fight in the tournament.
    • Return to the King and inform him.
    • The tournament will commence. You'll watch the battles unfold.
    • After the tournament, speak to the King again. He will reward you with the Zenithian Sword (or a similar powerful weapon). This is a crucial item for later chapters!
  • Reaching Your Goal:
    • Continue to manage your shop until you have accumulated a total of 60000 Gold in profit.
    • Once you reach this milestone, Torneko will decide it's time to move on to bigger adventures.
    • Talk to your wife in the shop. She will acknowledge your success.
    • Chapter 3 will conclude, and you'll be ready for the next hero's journey!
