Your journey begins at the Observatory, a celestial realm high above the mortal world. As a newly appointed Celestrian, your first task is to collect Benevolessence from the mortals below. After a brief tutorial and an unexpected event, you'll find yourself falling to the mortal world, landing near Angel Falls. Your Celestrian wings and halo will be gone, and you'll be invisible to most mortals. Your primary goal here is to understand your new predicament and find a way back to the Observatory.
While the Observatory’s celestial scale is unique, the opening tasks in Angel Falls mirror the pastoral, village-centric storytelling that defined the first chapter of Dragon Quest IV.
While Dragon Quest IX centers on the angelic Celestians, Dragon Quest X later expanded this celestial mythology by introducing the similar winged race known as the Tensho.
