Accessing Online Features
To access the online features, you must first progress far enough into the main story to unlock the Monster Arena in Rosehill. Once unlocked, speak to the Arena受付 (Arena Receptionist) and select the "Online Battles" option. Ensure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet and you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Online Battle Modes
There are two primary online battle modes available:
- Ranked Matches: Compete against randomly matched opponents to climb the global leaderboards.
- Friend Matches: Battle against players on your Nintendo Switch friend list.
Ranked Matches: Climbing the Ladder
Ranked Matches are where you'll truly test your mettle. Success here rewards you with valuable items and a sense of accomplishment.
Strategy for Ranked Matches:
- Team Composition is Key: Before entering, ensure your team is well-balanced. Consider a mix of offensive, defensive, and support monsters. Monsters with abilities like Multiheal, Kafrizzle, or Oomphle are always strong contenders.
- Stat Optimization: Pay close attention to your monsters' stats. Use Stat Seeds (e.g., Strength Seed, Defence Seed) to bolster weak points or enhance strengths.
- Skill Set Synergy: Ensure your monsters' skill sets complement each other. For instance, a monster that can inflict status effects like Sleep or Paralysis pairs well with a strong attacker.
- Equipment Matters: Equip your monsters with the best available gear. Items like the Metal King Shield for defense or the Uber Falcon Blade for offense can make a significant difference.
- Anticipate Opponents: As you climb the ranks, you'll encounter common monster archetypes. Try to predict popular strategies and build your team to counter them. For example, if you frequently encounter teams heavy on magic, consider bringing monsters with high Magic Resistance or abilities like Magic Barrier.

Ranked Match Rewards:
Rewards for Ranked Matches are typically distributed at the end of each season, based on your final rank. These can include rare items such as:

- Monster Eggs: Containing rare or powerful monsters.
- Skill Scrolls: Allowing you to teach specific skills to your monsters.
- Gold: For purchasing items and monster food.
Friend Matches: Friendly Competition
Friend Matches are a more relaxed way to enjoy online battles. They are perfect for testing new team builds, practicing strategies, or simply having fun with friends.
Setting up a Friend Match:
- From the "Online Battles" menu, select "Friend Match."
- You can either "Host a Match" or "Join a Match."
- If hosting, you'll be given a Room ID. Share this ID with your friend.
- If joining, enter the Room ID provided by your friend.
- Once both players are in the lobby, you can select your teams and begin the battle.
Benefits of Friend Matches:
- Experimentation: Test out unconventional monster combinations without the pressure of losing rank.
- Practice: Hone your battle instincts and learn how to react to different opponent strategies.
