Character Skills
Dragon Quest XI S offers a deep character skill system, allowing you to customize each party member's abilities and combat roles. As characters level up, they gain Skill Points (SP) that can be invested in their unique skill trees. Understanding these trees is crucial for optimizing your party's performance in battle.
The Hero, as the Luminary, possesses a versatile skill set. His trees include Greatswords, Swords, Shields, Courage, and Luminary. Investing in Courage unlocks healing and support spells like Heal and Midheal, while Luminary skills grant access to powerful offensive and defensive abilities, including the game-changing 'Hallelujah' for increased experience gain. Weapon skills enhance his damage output with specific weapon types.
Erik, the master thief, has skill trees for Scythes, Knives, Boomerangs, Guile, and Stealth. Guile and Stealth are essential for his role as a debuffer and item stealer, granting abilities like 'Poison Moth Toss' and 'Parasitic Nova'. His weapon skills focus on maximizing damage and applying status effects.
Serena, the devoted healer, specializes in Spears, Whips, Faith, and Life. Her Faith skills are paramount for her role, providing potent healing spells like 'Serene' and 'Vivify,' as well as buffs like 'Kabuff' and 'Oomph.' Life skills further enhance her healing capabilities and survivability.
Veronica, the prodigious mage, has skill trees for Staves, Whips, Lightning, Frost, and Determination. Her elemental magic skills, Lightning and Frost, are her primary offensive tools, capable of dealing massive damage to single targets or groups. Determination skills enhance her magical power and MP regeneration.
Sylvando, the flamboyant entertainer, wields Fans, Swords, Charisma, and Acrobatics. Charisma skills offer support and debuffs, while Acrobatics provides unique offensive maneuvers and buffs. Rab, the wise old sage, focuses on Claws, Staves, Humanity, and Enlightenment, offering a mix of offensive spells, healing, and powerful buffs.
Each character's skill tree offers distinct paths, allowing for specialization or a more balanced approach. Carefully consider your party composition and the challenges ahead when allocating Skill Points.
