Monster Drops & Item Farming
Efficiently gathering monster drops is essential for crafting powerful equipment and completing various quests in Dragon Quest XI S. This guide highlights key monster locations and strategies for farming specific items, ensuring you have the necessary materials to enhance your party's capabilities and overcome challenging encounters.
In the early stages of the game, particularly around Heliodor, you'll encounter Fright Bulbs. These monsters are excellent for early-game grinding due to their low HP and susceptibility to certain attacks. They can be used to practice the 'Worrywart' achievement, which requires ensuring all party members are healed. Once the Hero learns the 'Heal' spell at level 5, you can begin practicing this. When both Hero and Erik are pepped up, utilize the Pep Power 'The Real Decoy' and then return to the purple dot NPC to complete a side quest (4/40).
To acquire Buzzberries, needed for an upcoming quest, head north and east from the church in Heliodor. Look for a tree with blue sparkles to the right of the path and press 'A' to collect them. This item is crucial for obtaining a dog later in the game. Continue into the cave to return to Heliodor. At the item store, purchase a Holy Water. Proceed to a pile of junk where a cutscene will play, leading Erik to direct you to an inn. After another cutscene and a direction to a tower, you'll eventually return to the inn and speak with a redhead.
The next objective involves acquiring a dog, which requires the Buzzberries and Holy Water. Speak to the child with a pink dot over their head. Proceed past the guard to the upper part of town, head north to the stairs, take a right, and go to the pink dot on the map, which marks a house with a garden. Here, you'll use the 'B' button to jump.
