Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition reintroduces 2D dungeons from the 3DS version, accessible after reaching Tinkerton. To unlock additional content within these dungeons, locate Tockles scattered across the world. These Tockles, though sometimes hard to spot, are never permanently missable, ensuring you can eventually access all content and rewards, including new costumes and a hidden boss.
Upon starting, after the initial cutscene, press the Y button to open the menu. Navigate to Misc. and select System Settings to claim special rewards, grabbing all three available items. Return to the menu, choose Equipment, and change the Hero's Cobblestone Sword to the Cobblestone Greatsword. It is recommended to focus the Hero on Greatswords until Act III. Also, equip the Trodain Bandana and Trodain Togs. Follow the dog, holding RT to run. Talk to people with pink dots for directions. Your first fight will be against 3 slimes; focus fire with the dog. After the fight, find a chest with a shield behind the shrine on the left. Continue following the dog.
Turn left and break pots for a strong medicine, then open the door. Speak to the nun, then leave the church to learn about pep powers. Eric will join your party, granting access to character skills. Press Y, go to Misc., then Tactics, and set Eric to Follow Orders. Use items to feed Hero 3 Seeds of Skill. Go to Misc., then Character Builder, and choose a skill for Hero and Eric. Training Eric in Knives is recommended. Talk to the purple dot on your left. Fight monsters, such as Fright Bulbs, until both Hero and Eric are pepped up. You can rest at the church. At level 5, Hero learns Heal. Once Hero knows Heal, press Y, then X twice to unlock further options.
