Saving your progress in Dragon Quest is paramount, as death can be a costly setback. To save your game, you must speak with King Lorik in Tantegel Castle. He will ask if you wish to record your deeds. Confirming this will save your current location, experience, gold, and inventory. There are no other save points in the game, so returning to Tantegel Castle periodically is essential. It's a good practice to save before venturing into dangerous new areas, before confronting powerful monsters, or after accumulating a significant amount of Gold or Experience. Dying without saving will result in losing half your Gold and returning to Tantegel Castle, so be diligent!
