The Dragonlord's Lair: Navigating Charlock Castle

Your ultimate destination, Charlock Castle, is a multi-level fortress teeming with the Dragonlord's most formidable minions. This guide will help you reach the final confrontation.

Level 1: The Outer Walls & Guard Posts

  • Upon entering, proceed directly north. You'll encounter several Skeletons and Ghosts. These are relatively weak, but their numbers can be overwhelming if you're under-leveled.
  • Follow the main path as it winds eastward. You'll find a small alcove to the south containing a chest with 50 Gold Pieces.
  • Continue north until you reach a staircase leading down. This is your exit to Level 2.

Level 2: The Inner Keep & Prison Cells

  • From the stairs, head west. Be wary of Warlocks here; their spells can be quite damaging. Prioritize them in combat.
  • You'll notice several prison cells. The northernmost cell contains a hidden passage. Interact with the back wall to reveal it.
  • Follow the hidden passage south. It will lead to a small room with a chest containing a Medical Herb and a Torch. These are crucial for deeper exploration.
  • Return to the main path and continue south, then east. You'll find another staircase descending to Level 3.

Level 3: The Crypts & Shadowy Halls

  • This level is significantly darker. Use a Torch or the Radiant spell to illuminate your surroundings.
  • From the stairs, head directly south. You'll encounter Drakeys and Scorpions. Focus on single targets to conserve MP.
  • At the southern wall, turn west. You'll find a long corridor. Halfway down, there's a small room to the north containing a chest with 100 Gold Pieces.
  • Continue west to the end of the corridor, then turn north. You'll find a staircase leading down to Level 4.

Level 4: The Dragonlord's Antechamber

  • This level is a maze of interconnected rooms. The primary enemies here are Knights and Starwyverns. Ensure your HP is high before engaging.
  • From the stairs, head east, then north. You'll find a large chamber.
  • In the center of this chamber, there's a pedestal. Interact with it to find a hidden switch, which opens a path to the west.
  • Follow the newly opened path west, then south. You'll reach a final staircase leading to the Dragonlord's Throne Room.

The Garinham Cave: A Shortcut to Raddatome

This small cave, located just south of Garinham, offers a convenient shortcut to the town of Raddatome, bypassing a longer journey through dangerous plains. It also holds a valuable early-game item.

Cave Entrance & First Chamber

  • Enter the cave from the world map. The path is straightforward initially, leading south.
  • You'll immediately encounter Slimes and occasional Red Slimes. These are excellent for early-game experience.
  • Follow the path as it curves west. You'll enter a larger chamber.

The Treasure Nook

  • In the westernmost part of the large chamber, look for a small alcove to the north.
  • Inside this alcove, you'll find a chest containing the Torch. This item is invaluable for illuminating darker dungeons later in your adventure.

Exit to Raddatome

  • From the treasure nook, head directly south. The path will narrow and lead to the cave exit.
  • Exiting this cave will place you directly on the world map, a short walk north of Raddatome.

The Swamp Cave: Path to the Silver Harp

Located east of Kol, the Swamp Cave is a murky, monster-infested dungeon essential for acquiring the Silver Harp, a key item required to progress the main quest.

Level 1: The Murky Depths

  • Upon entering, the air is thick and visibility is somewhat reduced. Head east, navigating around the small pools of swamp water.
  • Enemies here include Magicians and Scorpions. Be prepared for spellcasting from the Magicians.
  • Follow the path as it turns south, then west. You'll find a small branch leading north to a dead end with a chest containing 60 Gold Pieces.
  • Return to the main path and continue west. You'll reach a staircase leading down to Level 2.

Level 2: The Harp's Chamber

  • From the stairs, head directly south. The path is linear here, but expect encounters with Ghosts and Drakeys.
  • At the southernmost point, the path turns east. Follow it into a larger chamber.
  • In the center of this chamber, you'll find a pedestal. Interact with it to claim the Silver Harp.
  • Once you have the Harp, retrace your steps back to the entrance. Remember, using the Return spell will take you back to Tantegel Castle, so be prepared to walk out if you need to save your MP.
