Cosyton

Welcome, Keeper, to Cosyton! This level presents a unique challenge, focusing on strategic resource management and careful expansion. The heroes here are well-entrenched, and rushing in will lead to swift defeat. Patience and a strong economy are your keys to victory.

Initial Setup and Early Game

Upon starting, you'll find your Dungeon Heart in a relatively secure, albeit cramped, corner of the map. Your immediate priorities are:

  1. Secure Gold: Immediately dig towards the nearest Gold Vein. There's a small vein directly to the north-east of your Dungeon Heart. Prioritize mining this out quickly.
  2. Establish Basic Rooms:
    • Lair (5x5): Essential for housing your initial Imps and any creatures you attract. Place it close to your Dungeon Heart for quick access.
    • Hatchery (3x3): Crucial for feeding your creatures. There's a chicken pen nearby that your Imps will automatically harvest once the Hatchery is built.
    • Treasury (3x3 minimum): To store your hard-earned gold. Expand this as your gold income increases.
  3. Attract Early Creatures: Your first few creatures will likely be Imps, Bile Demons, and possibly a Fly or two. Focus on attracting Bile Demons early as they are excellent miners and decent fighters for initial skirmishes.

Mid-Game Expansion and Hero Encounters

As you expand, you'll encounter the first hero resistance. Cosyton features a mix of Monks and Fairies initially, followed by more formidable Knights and Wizards later on.

  • Northern Expansion: Digging north will lead you to a larger Gold Vein and potentially some Gem Seams. Be wary, as this path is often patrolled by a few Monks. Use your Bile Demons to clear them out.
  • Training Room (5x5): Once you have a steady gold income and a few creatures, build a Training Room. Leveling up your creatures is paramount for surviving later hero waves. Prioritize training your Bile Demons and any Trolls you might attract.
  • Bridge to the West: To the west of your starting position, across a small chasm, lies a significant portion of the hero's territory. Do NOT build a bridge immediately. This will trigger a strong hero assault that you are unlikely to withstand early on. Instead, focus on building up your forces.
  • Library (3x3): Essential for researching spells. Prioritize researching the "Possess" spell for scouting and direct combat control, and "Heal" for keeping your creatures alive during battles.

Late Game and Hero Strongholds

The true challenge of Cosyton lies in dismantling the hero's main strongholds. There are two primary hero bases:

  1. Western Outpost (Monks & Fairies): This is the first major hero base you should target. It's located across the chasm to the west.
    • Strategy: Once you have at least 5-6 well-trained creatures (level 3+ Bile Demons, Trolls, and perhaps a Warlock), construct a bridge across the chasm. Immediately follow up with a strong offensive. Use the "Possess" spell on a powerful creature to lead the charge, focusing down the Monks first as their healing can be problematic.
    • Loot: After clearing the outpost, you'll find a small amount of gold and potentially a "Speed" potion.
  2. Northern Citadel (Knights & Wizards): This is the main hero stronghold, heavily fortified with Knights, Wizards, and even a few powerful Avatars. It's located further north, past the initial gold veins.
    • Preparation: Before assaulting the Northern Citadel, ensure you have a robust army of at least 10-12 high-level creatures (level 5+). This should include a mix of melee (Bile Demons, Trolls, Horned Reapers if you've attracted any) and ranged (Warlocks, Dark Mistresses). Research powerful spells like "Lightning" and "Boulder" to soften up hero defenses.
    • Assault Plan:
      1. Breach Defenses: The Citadel is likely protected by reinforced walls and possibly traps. Use your Imps to dig through or your stronger creatures to smash through.
      2. Target Wizards First: Wizards are high-damage dealers. Use "Possess" on a fast creature or "Lightning" to take them out quickly.
      3. Engage Knights: Knights are tanky. Use your Bile Demons and Trolls to tie them up in melee, while your Warlocks and Dark Mistresses provide ranged support.
      4. Destroy the Hero Gate: Once the main hero forces are dealt with, locate and destroy the Hero Gate. This will prevent further hero reinforcements.
    • Victory Condition: The level is won once all heroes are defeated and their Dungeon Heart (or equivalent hero structure) is destroyed.

Remember, Keeper, Cosyton is a marathon, not a sprint. Build your dungeon wisely, train your creatures diligently, and strike when your power is undeniable. Good luck!
