Flowerhat
The Flowerhat level presents a unique tactical challenge, focusing on resource management and strategic creature deployment against a persistent heroic threat. Your objective is to eliminate the heroic Lord of the Land, who is well-protected and supported by a steady stream of reinforcements.
Initial Setup and Resource Acquisition
Upon starting, immediately claim the Dungeon Heart and begin digging towards the nearest gold veins. Prioritize establishing a functional dungeon economy:
- Gold Mine: Dig towards and claim the gold veins directly adjacent to your starting position. Designate a large area for a Gold Mine (at least 5x5) to ensure a steady income.
- Lair: Construct a spacious Lair (minimum 7x7) to accommodate your initial creatures. Imps will be your primary diggers and claimers, so ensure they have a comfortable home.
- Hatchery: A 3x3 Hatchery is sufficient initially. Place it near your Lair for easy access for your creatures.
- Training Room: A 5x5 Training Room is crucial for leveling up your early creatures. Focus on getting your Imps to Level 2-3 quickly to improve their digging speed and combat effectiveness against early hero scouts.
Keep an eye on your Imps. They are vulnerable to the initial hero patrols. Use the "Slap" spell to motivate them or pick them up and drop them back in the safety of your dungeon if they are being targeted.
Early Creature Recruitment and Defense
Your initial creature flow will likely include Bile Demons and Trolls. These are excellent for early defense and resource gathering:
- Bile Demons: These creatures are slow but incredibly tough. Train them in your Training Room. They are excellent for holding chokepoints.
- Trolls: Trolls are essential for building rooms. Assign them to your Workshop as soon as you build one.
As you expand, you will encounter the first hero forces. These typically consist of Monks and Fairies. They are not overly strong but can overwhelm an unprepared defense.
- Chokepoint Defense: Identify natural chokepoints in your dungeon layout. Place your trained Bile Demons here.
- Guard Post: Construct a 3x3 Guard Post at strategic entrances to your dungeon. This will attract your creatures and provide a defensive line.
- Boulder Traps: Once you have a Workshop and Trolls, research and build Boulder Traps. Place these in corridors leading to your Dungeon Heart or vital rooms. They are highly effective against hero groups.
Mid-Game Expansion and Advanced Defenses
Once your economy is stable and your initial defenses are holding, it's time to expand and prepare for the Lord of the Land.
- Library: Build a 5x5 Library. This is critical for researching advanced spells and traps. Prioritize researching the "Possess" spell and "Lightning" spell.
- Possess: Use this spell to scout hero positions and identify their main attack routes. It's also invaluable for leading your creatures in battle.
- Lightning: A powerful offensive spell for weakening hero groups or finishing off stragglers.
- Workshop Expansion: Expand your Workshop to at least 5x5 to allow for faster trap production. Research and build Horned Reaper Traps and Spike Traps.
- Horned Reaper Traps: These are devastating against hero groups, dealing significant damage. Place them strategically in corridors where heroes are likely to pass.
- Spike Traps: Good for slowing down and damaging heroes, especially in conjunction with Boulder Traps.
- Torture Chamber: A 3x3 Torture Chamber is useful for converting captured heroes into useful creatures (like Dark Mistresses) or extracting information.
- Bridge Building: There are often chasms or water bodies separating your dungeon from hero strongholds. Research and build Bridges to gain access to these areas.
Confronting the Lord of the Land
The Lord of the Land is located in a heavily fortified area, typically surrounded by multiple hero barracks and a steady spawn of Knights, Archers, and Wizards. Your approach needs to be methodical.
- Scouting with Possess: Use the "Possess" spell on a fast creature (like a Dark Mistress or a trained Imp) to scout the Lord's stronghold. Identify the main entry points and the density of hero forces.
- Tunneling and Trapping: Dig tunnels towards the Lord's stronghold, but do so carefully. As you approach, lay down a gauntlet of traps:
- Start with Boulder Traps at the entrance of your tunnels.
- Follow with Spike Traps to wear down heroes.
- Place Horned Reaper Traps in key intersections or just before the Lord's chamber for maximum impact.
- Reinforcement Strategy: The heroes will continuously reinforce the Lord. You need a strong offensive force. Aim for a mix of high-level creatures:
- Horned Reapers: If you manage to attract and train them, they are invaluable for their raw power.
- Dark Mistresses: Excellent ranged attackers and good against multiple targets.
- Bile Demons: Still useful as tanks to absorb damage.
- Warlocks: Provide magical support and can deal with ranged hero units.
- Direct Assault: Once your trap gauntlet is set and your army is assembled, launch a coordinated attack.
- Use the "Call to Arms" spell to gather your creatures at the entrance of your attack tunnel.
- Cast "Lightning" spells on groups of heroes to soften them up.
- Use "Possess" on your strongest creature to directly control the battle, focusing attacks on the Lord of the Land while your other creatures engage the surrounding heroes.
- Be prepared to cast "Heal" on your creatures if they are taking heavy damage.
The Lord of the Land typically has high health and strong melee attacks. Focus all available fire on him once his escorts are dealt with or sufficiently distracted. Victory is achieved once the Lord falls.
