Sleepiburgh

Welcome, Keeper, to the sleepy, yet surprisingly lucrative, lands of Sleepiburgh! This level presents a unique challenge, focusing heavily on resource management and strategic creature deployment against a surprisingly well-fortified hero presence. Expect early pressure and a need for efficient gold and gem mining.

Initial Setup and Early Game

Upon entering Sleepiburgh, your first priority is to secure your immediate surroundings and establish a stable economy. The map starts with a modest amount of gold veins directly adjacent to your Dungeon Heart. Prioritize digging these out immediately.

  • Digging Strategy: Focus on expanding outwards from your Dungeon Heart in a controlled manner. The initial gold veins are crucial for funding your early rooms.
  • Essential Rooms:
    • Lair (5x5 minimum): Essential for housing your initial creatures. Place it near your Dungeon Heart for quick access.
    • Hatchery (3x3 minimum): Crucial for feeding your creatures. Position it strategically to minimize travel time for your Imps.
    • Treasury (3x3 minimum): Needed to store the gold your Imps mine. Expand this as your gold income increases.
  • Creature Recruitment: Your initial creature flow will likely consist of Imps and Bile Demons. Bile Demons are excellent for early defense due to their high HP and area-of-effect attacks. Consider dropping a few Bile Demons directly into your Hatchery to ensure they are well-fed and happy.

Mid-Game Expansion and Hero Encounters

As your dungeon expands, you'll encounter the first hero patrols. Sleepiburgh features a mix of Monks and Fairies in the early to mid-game, with the occasional Knight. These heroes will attempt to breach your defenses through several choke points.

Northern Gem Veins

To the north of your starting position, beyond a series of rock formations, lies a rich vein of gems. Securing this area is paramount for long-term success and unlocking higher-tier rooms and spells.

  • Path to Gems: Dig a secure tunnel towards the north. Be wary of hidden hero patrols that may be guarding the approach.
  • Defensive Outpost: Once you reach the gem veins, establish a small, defensible outpost. A Guard Post (3x3) staffed with a few Bile Demons or Trolls can hold off initial hero incursions while your Imps mine.
  • Bridge Construction: There's a chasm separating your main dungeon from the northern gem veins. You'll need to construct a Bridge to allow your Imps and creatures to cross safely. Ensure the bridge is well-protected, as heroes often target these vulnerable structures.

Southern Hero Stronghold

The southern part of the map houses a small hero stronghold, primarily consisting of Monks and a few Archers. This stronghold poses a constant threat and should be dealt with once your economy is stable.

  • Scouting: Use your Imps to carefully scout the southern approach. Identify the hero patrol routes and the main entrance to their stronghold.
  • Offensive Strategy: A direct assault with a strong contingent of Bile Demons, Trolls, and perhaps a few Warlocks (if you've managed to recruit them) is recommended. Use the Call to Arms spell to rally your creatures for a concentrated push.
  • Target Priority: Focus on eliminating the Archers first, as their ranged attacks can whittle down your forces. Then, engage the Monks.

Late Game and Final Assault

The final phase of Sleepiburgh involves confronting the main hero forces and destroying their central stronghold. This stronghold is heavily fortified with Knights, Wizards, and even a few Avatars if you linger too long.

Hero Dungeon Heart

The heroes' Dungeon Heart is located in the far eastern section of the map, behind a series of reinforced walls and heavily guarded corridors. You will need a significant force to breach these defenses.

  • Reinforce Your Army: By this point, you should have a diverse army. Focus on recruiting high-level creatures like Horned Reapers, Dragons, and Dark Mistresses. Ensure your creatures are well-trained in your Training Room and well-fed.
  • Spell Usage:
    • Lightning (Level 3 or higher): Excellent for taking down high-HP heroes like Knights and Avatars.
    • Boulder: Can be used to clear out groups of weaker heroes or to demolish hero rooms.
    • Heal: Crucial for keeping your valuable creatures alive during prolonged engagements.
  • Breaching Defenses:
    1. Tunneling: Identify weak points in the hero's outer walls and tunnel directly into their territory. This can bypass some of their initial defenses.
    2. Trap Placement: Consider placing a few Spike Traps or Boulder Traps in key corridors within the hero stronghold to soften up their forces before your main assault.
    3. Concentrated Attack: Use the Call to Arms spell to gather your strongest creatures and launch a coordinated attack on the hero's Dungeon Heart. Prioritize destroying the Heart to secure victory.

Remember, patience and strategic resource management are key to conquering Sleepiburgh. Don't rush into engagements you can't win, and always ensure your creatures are happy and well-trained.
