Welcome, Keeper, to Waterdream Warm – a level that will test your ability to manage resources and strategically expand. This map is characterized by its segmented layout and the presence of water, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Your primary objective, as always, is to eliminate the opposing Keeper and claim dominance over the realm.

Initial Setup and Early Game Strategy

Upon starting, you'll find yourself in a relatively confined starting area. Your first priority is to establish a stable economy and recruit a core group of creatures. Focus on digging out your initial dungeon heart and securing nearby gold veins.

  • Digging Order: Immediately dig a path to the nearest gold veins. There are several small veins accessible from your starting position. Prioritize these to fund your early expansion.
  • Essential Rooms:
    • Lair: Crucial for attracting creatures. Build a decent-sized Lair (at least 5x5) early on.
    • Hatchery: Place this near your Lair to ensure your creatures are well-fed and happy.
    • Treasury: Expand your Treasury as you uncover more gold. Don't let your gold sit uncollected!
    • Training Room: A small Training Room (3x3 or 4x4) will suffice initially to get your early creatures some experience.

    You'll notice a significant body of water to your north. This water acts as a natural barrier, but also hides potential resources and pathways. Do not rush into the water without proper preparation.

    Mid-Game Expansion and Resource Management

    As your dungeon grows, you'll need to expand beyond your starting island. The key to Waterdream Warm is intelligent use of the water. There are several gold veins and even a Gem Vein hidden beneath the water, but accessing them requires careful planning.

    • Research Bridge: Your top research priority should be the Bridge spell. This is absolutely vital for crossing the water.
    • Water Crossings:
      • North-East Gold Vein: Once you have the Bridge spell, build a bridge across the water directly north-east of your starting position. This leads to a significant gold vein that will greatly boost your economy.
      • Central Gem Vein: Further to the north, across another stretch of water, lies a valuable Gem Vein. Secure this as soon as possible. Gem Veins provide an endless supply of gold, making your economy self-sufficient.
      • Western Expansion: There's another landmass to the west, separated by water. This area contains more gold and potential creature portals.
    • Creature Recruitment:
      • Imps: You'll need a steady stream of Imps for digging and building. Keep your Imp population high.
      • Warlocks: Warlocks are excellent for early defense and can research spells quickly.
      • Bile Demons: Once you have a larger Lair and Hatchery, Bile Demons are great for soaking up damage and dealing area-of-effect attacks.
      • Horned Reapers: If you're lucky enough to attract a Horned Reaper, treat it well! They are incredibly powerful.

    Dealing with the Enemy Keeper

    The opposing Keeper will likely be on a separate island, also expanding their dungeon. They will attempt to cross the water to attack you, and you should do the same to them. Keep an eye on the minimap for their expansion efforts.

    • Scouting: Use a single Imp or a low-level creature to scout the enemy's territory once you've established a bridgehead. Identify their Dungeon Heart and key rooms.
    • Defensive Measures:
      • Traps: Place Boulder Traps and Spike Traps on your bridges and choke points.
      • Guard Posts: Station your strongest creatures in Guard Posts near your bridges to repel enemy incursions.
      • Fortification: Fortify your dungeon walls, especially those adjacent to potential enemy attack routes.
    • Offensive Push:
      • Mass Attack: Once you have a strong army of leveled-up creatures, launch a coordinated attack across a bridge. Use the Call to Arms spell to gather your forces.
      • Destroy Portals: Prioritize destroying the enemy's creature portals to cut off their reinforcements.
      • Target the Dungeon Heart: Your ultimate goal is to destroy the enemy's Dungeon Heart. Use your strongest creatures and offensive spells like Lightning or Meteor Shower to quickly dismantle it.
