Advanced Trap Combinations & Defensive Strategies

Beyond simply placing traps, strategic combinations can create deadly choke points and devastating ambushes for invading heroes. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each trap, and how they interact, is crucial for a secure and thriving dungeon.

  • Boulder Trap: A classic for a reason. The Boulder Trap deals significant physical damage and can knock back enemies. It's most effective in narrow corridors where it can hit multiple targets and disrupt formations.
  • Lightning Trap: Deals electrical damage to a single target, with a chance to stun. This is excellent for disabling key enemy units, such as powerful warriors or spellcasters, allowing your creatures to focus on them.
  • Spike Trap: Deals moderate damage and can cause bleeding, which deals damage over time. While not as immediately devastating as the Boulder, the sustained damage can wear down even the toughest heroes.
  • Gas Trap: Releases a cloud of poison that deals damage over time to all creatures within its area. This is superb for clearing out large groups of weaker heroes or weakening tougher ones before they reach your inner sanctum.

Effective Trap Combinations:

  1. The Gauntlet: Dig a long, narrow corridor. Line the walls with Boulder Traps and Spike Traps. As heroes advance, the Boulders will push them back and deal damage, while the Spikes inflict lingering wounds. This forces them to fight through a constant barrage of damage.
  2. The Stun Lock: Place Lightning Traps at the entrance to a key area. As heroes trigger them, they will be stunned, allowing your creatures to engage them while they are defenseless. Follow up with Gas Traps to inflict damage over time while they are incapacitated.
  3. The Ambush Corridor: Create a seemingly safe path that leads into a room. Line the path with hidden Spike Traps and Gas Traps. Once heroes are inside, trigger a Boulder Trap at the entrance to the room, trapping them with the lingering poison and bleeding effects.
  4. The Choke Point Annihilator: In a narrow passage, place a series of Boulder Traps followed by Lightning Traps. The Boulders will push enemies into the path of the Lightning Traps, maximizing the stun effect and allowing your creatures to easily pick off the stunned and damaged heroes.

Always ensure your Imps have access to repair your traps after they have been triggered. Consider placing traps in conjunction with creature attack points to maximize their effectiveness.
