Mistle
Mistle is a challenging level that demands a balanced approach to dungeon management and aggressive expansion. You'll face persistent hero attacks and limited gold, making efficient resource management crucial. This guide will walk you through the optimal strategy to conquer Mistle.
Initial Setup and Early Game
Upon starting Mistle, your immediate priorities are securing your dungeon heart and establishing a basic economy.
- Dungeon Heart Defense: Your Dungeon Heart is vulnerable. Immediately dig a 3x3 Tomb adjacent to it and drop your two starting Skeletons inside. This provides an immediate, albeit temporary, defense.
- Gold Acquisition: Dig towards the nearest gold veins. There's a small vein directly to the east of your starting position. Prioritize digging a Treasury to store this gold.
- Creature Recruitment: Your starting Imps are essential for digging and hauling. As soon as you have gold, build a Lair (5x5 recommended) and a Hatchery (3x3 minimum) to attract more creatures. Bile Demons are excellent early-game tanks and will be crucial for holding choke points.
- Training Room: Once you have a few creatures, construct a Training Room (at least 3x3) to level them up. Focus on your Bile Demons first.
Mid-Game Expansion and Defense
The mid-game in Mistle is characterized by increased hero pressure and the need to expand your territory to secure more resources and strategic positions.
Hero Waves
Heroes will attack from multiple directions. Be prepared for regular incursions.
- Northern Entrance: The primary hero entrance is to the north. Establish a strong defensive line here. A combination of Guard Posts and a well-trained squad of Bile Demons and Horned Reapers (if you've attracted any) is ideal.
- Western Flank: A secondary, less frequent, hero path exists to the west. Keep an eye on this area and be ready to reinforce it with a few creatures or a Boulder Trap.
- Traps: use Boulder Traps and Spike Traps in hero pathways to soften them up before they reach your main defenses. Place them strategically in narrow corridors.
Resource Management
Gold is scarce. Efficient use of your resources is paramount.
- Gem Veins: There are several gem veins scattered across the map. Prioritize digging to these as soon as your defenses are stable. Gem veins provide a steady, albeit slower, income compared to gold.
- Mana Vaults: Build Mana Vaults to increase your mana regeneration. You'll need plenty of mana for spells like Lightning and Heal during hero encounters.
Creature Synergy
Different creatures excel in different roles. A diverse army is a strong army.
- Bile Demons: Excellent tanks, good for holding lines.
- Horned Reapers: High damage dealers, but require a Temple and sacrifice. Aim to get at least one or two.
- Warlocks: Ranged attackers, good for supporting your melee units. Build a Library to attract them.
- Trolls: Good for building and repairing, but can also fight in a pinch.
Late Game and Victory Conditions
The ultimate goal in Mistle is to eliminate the opposing Keeper and any remaining heroes.
- Opposing Keeper: The enemy Keeper is located in the far northeast. Once your dungeon is secure and your army is well-trained, begin a slow, methodical advance towards their heart.
- Tunneling Strategy: Use your Imps to tunnel towards the enemy, clearing out any resistance. Be wary of their traps and creatures.
- Assault Force: Assemble your strongest creatures for the final assault. Use Possess on a powerful creature like a Horned Reaper or a high-level Bile Demon to lead the charge.
- Spell Support: Continuously cast Lightning on enemy creatures and Heal on your own during the final push.
- Destroy the Heart: Once you reach the enemy Dungeon Heart, focus all your attacks on it to secure victory.
