Skybird Trill

Skybird Trill is a challenging level that demands careful planning and efficient resource management. Your primary objective is to eliminate the two rival Keepers while dealing with persistent Hero incursions. This guide will walk you through the optimal strategy to achieve victory.

Initial Setup and Expansion

Upon starting, prioritize establishing a strong economic and defensive foundation.

  • Heart Chamber: Immediately dig out a 3x3 Heart Chamber. This is crucial for your Dungeon Heart's safety and early creature generation.
  • Gold Veins: There are two Gold Veins directly accessible from your starting position. Dig them out quickly and place Imps to mine.
  • Lair: Construct a 5x5 Lair adjacent to your Heart Chamber. This provides space for your initial creatures to rest and grow.
  • Hatchery: Build a 3x3 Hatchery near your Lair to ensure your creatures are well-fed.
  • Training Room: A 5x5 Training Room is essential for leveling up your early creatures. Place it strategically to allow easy access from the Lair.

Early Game Creature Management and Defense

Your initial creature roster will be vital for fending off early Hero attacks and expanding your territory.

  • Creature Spawning: Focus on attracting Bile Demons and Trolls. Bile Demons are excellent tanks, while Trolls are good all-around fighters and can be used for manufacturing.
  • Defensive Line: Establish a defensive line using a combination of a Guard Post and a few Traps.
    • Guard Post: Place a Guard Post at the choke point leading to your Dungeon Heart. Assign your Bile Demons here.
    • Boulder Traps: Deploy 2-3 Boulder Traps in the corridor leading to the Guard Post. These will soften up incoming Heroes.
  • Reinforce: Use the "Reinforce" spell (cost: 50 Mana) on your creatures during combat to keep them alive.

Mid-Game Expansion and Offensive Preparations

Once your initial defenses are stable and your creatures are gaining levels, it's time to expand and prepare for your assault on the enemy Keepers.

  • Bridge to the East: Dig east from your Dungeon Heart. You'll find a small body of water. Use the "Bridge" spell (cost: 100 Mana) to cross it. This path leads to a significant Gold Vein and a Gem Seam.
  • Gem Seam: Secure the Gem Seam immediately. This provides a steady, albeit slow, income of gold without requiring Imps.
  • Workshop: Build a 5x5 Workshop near the Gem Seam. Assign your Trolls here to manufacture more powerful Traps and Doors. Prioritize manufacturing Horned Reaper Traps and Steel Doors.
  • Scouting: Use the "Sight" spell (cost: 20 Mana) to scout the enemy Keeper's dungeons. Identify their Dungeon Hearts and primary defensive structures.
  • Creature Recruitment: Aim to attract Horned Reapers. They are incredibly powerful but require a large Lair and Training Room. Ensure you have enough food and gold to support them.

Assaulting the Enemy Keepers

There are two enemy Keepers on this map. It's generally advisable to deal with the closer one first.

Attacking the Western Keeper

The Western Keeper is typically the easier target due to its proximity.

  1. Breach Defenses: Dig a path towards the Western Keeper's Dungeon Heart. Expect resistance in the form of Traps and enemy creatures. Use your Bile Demons to tank and Horned Reapers for damage.
  2. Target Rooms: Focus on destroying their Hatchery and Lair first. This will starve and weaken their creatures.
  3. Dungeon Heart Assault: Once their creature count is low, send in your strongest creatures to destroy their Dungeon Heart. Use the "Call to Arms" spell (cost: 150 Mana) to rally your forces.

Attacking the Eastern Keeper

The Eastern Keeper often has more developed defenses. Be prepared for a tougher fight.

  1. Secure the Bridge: If you haven't already, ensure the bridge leading to the Eastern Keeper's territory is secure.
  2. Flanking Maneuver (Optional but Recommended): Consider digging a tunnel around their main defenses to bypass heavily trapped areas. Use the "Possess" spell (cost: 0 Mana) on an Imp to scout these routes safely.
  3. Systematic Destruction: Similar to the Western Keeper, prioritize their creature-sustaining rooms (Hatchery, Lair) before directly assaulting their Dungeon Heart.
  4. Overwhelm: With one Keeper defeated, you should have a significant advantage in creature count and power. Use this to overwhelm the remaining Keeper.

Dealing with Hero Incursions

Heroes will periodically attempt to invade your dungeon. Your established defenses should handle most of these, but be ready to intervene.

  • Reinforce Defenses: If a large wave of Heroes is detected, quickly reinforce your Guard Posts with additional creatures.
  • Boulder Traps: Replenish Boulder Traps as they are triggered.
  • "Lightning" Spell: The "Lightning" spell (cost: 75 Mana) is excellent for dealing damage to groups of Heroes.
  • "Heal" Spell: Use the "Heal" spell (cost: 30 Mana) on your injured creatures to minimize casualties.

Key Spells to Utilize

  • Possess: Invaluable for scouting and directing individual creatures.
  • Call to Arms: Essential for rallying your forces for an attack or defense.
  • Reinforce: Keeps your creatures alive during prolonged engagements.
  • Heal: Crucial for creature longevity and reducing training time.
  • Lightning: Effective area-of-effect damage against Heroes.
  • Bridge: Necessary for expanding across water.

By following these steps, you will successfully conquer Skybird Trill and add another victory to your dark reign!
