Tulipscent

Tulipscent is a challenging but rewarding level, requiring careful resource management and strategic creature deployment. Your primary objective is to eliminate the hero Lord Ironheart and his allies. This level introduces several unique environmental hazards and opportunities.

Initial Setup and Expansion

Upon starting, immediately claim the surrounding gold veins and begin digging a path towards the central area. Prioritize the construction of essential rooms:

  • Lair: Crucial for attracting creatures. Build a moderately sized one early.
  • Hatchery: Ensure a steady food supply. Place it near your Lair.
  • Treasury: To store your initial gold and subsequent earnings.
  • Training Room: Essential for leveling up your creatures. Aim for a 3x3 or 4x4 room.

You'll start with a few Imps. Use them to dig and claim territory. Be wary of the initial hero patrols that will occasionally venture close to your dungeon heart. Keep your Imps away from direct combat.

Mid-Game Strategy: Securing Resources and Creatures

As you expand, focus on securing the following:

  1. Gold Veins: There are several rich veins scattered across the map. The most significant ones are located to the east and west of your starting position, often guarded by minor hero groups.
  2. Gem Veins: A valuable gem vein can be found to the north-east, providing a steady income once claimed. This area is usually less contested early on.
  3. Creature Portals:
    • Beetle Portal: Located to your immediate west, this portal will attract Beetles, excellent early-game tanks.
    • Bile Demon Portal: To the south-east, this portal offers Bile Demons, powerful melee units that are slow but hit hard.
    • Warlock Portal: A bit further north from the Bile Demon portal, this portal will attract Warlocks, your primary ranged damage dealers.

Prioritize attracting Bile Demons and Warlocks. Bile Demons can hold chokepoints, while Warlocks provide crucial support fire.

  4. Library: Construct a Library (at least 3x3) to research new spells. Prioritize the "Heal" and "Lightning" spells. "Call to Arms" will also be invaluable for defense.

Hero Encounters: Expect skirmishes with Knights and Archers. Use your Beetles and Bile Demons to absorb damage while Warlocks provide ranged attacks. Don't be afraid to use the "Heal" spell on your stronger units.

Late-Game Push: Confronting Lord Ironheart

Lord Ironheart is located in a heavily fortified stronghold in the far north of the map. He is accompanied by several high-level Knights, Monks, and Archers. Before initiating your assault, ensure you have:

  • A strong core of at least 3-4 Level 5+ Bile Demons.
  • At least 4-5 Level 4+ Warlocks.
  • A few Level 3+ Horned Reapers (if you've managed to attract them by building a Torture Chamber and converting heroes).
  • Plenty of gold for spell casting.

Assault Plan:

  1. Breaching Defenses: Ironheart's stronghold is protected by reinforced walls and several Guard Posts. Use your Imps to dig a path, but be prepared for immediate hero resistance. Consider using the "Strike" spell to soften up initial hero groups.
  2. Chokepoint Engagement: The entrance to Ironheart's main chamber is often a narrow corridor. Drop your Bile Demons and Horned Reapers at the front to tank damage. Position your Warlocks behind them for maximum ranged output.
  3. Spell Support:
    • Heal: Constantly cast "Heal" on your front-line units, especially Bile Demons and Horned Reapers, to keep them alive.
    • Lightning: Use "Lightning" to target high-threat heroes like Monks (who can heal other heroes) and Archers.
    • Call to Arms: If your forces are spread thin or you encounter unexpected reinforcements, use "Call to Arms" to quickly gather your strongest units.
  4. Targeting Lord Ironheart: Lord Ironheart himself is a formidable opponent with high health and damage. Focus all available attacks on him once his escorts are dealt with or sufficiently weakened. Continue to use "Lightning" and "Heal" as needed.

Once Lord Ironheart falls, the level is complete. Remember to keep an eye on your creature's happiness and pay them regularly to prevent them from leaving or fighting amongst themselves.
