Objective: Defeat the Necromancer Zarthus in the Lower Crypts.
This is the first major boss encounter. The path to the Lower Crypts is now accessible from the Crypt Entrance. Prepare for a challenging fight. Zarthus summons Risen Minions and casts dark magic. Focus on dodging his projectile spells and eliminating his minions quickly. When Zarthus is vulnerable (after casting a large spell), unleash your strongest attacks. He has three phases, indicated by his health bar. In the final phase, he will teleport frequently. Stay mobile and use any healing potions you have. Defeating him grants 500 Gold, 500 XP, and the Necromancer's Staff (a powerful early-game weapon).
