The Mother is the final boss of The Following DLC, a grotesque and powerful entity that requires a unique approach. This fight is less about direct combat and more about environmental manipulation.
Phases & Attacks:
- Tentacle Slam: The Mother will slam her massive tentacles, creating shockwaves and damaging the ground.
- Acid Spit: She will spit corrosive acid that creates damaging pools on the ground.
- Summoned Infected: She will summon waves of various infected to distract and overwhelm you.
Strategy:
The Mother is invulnerable to direct attacks. Your goal is to destroy the four large sacs around the arena that are feeding her. Each sac is protected by a pulsating membrane. You need to use the nearby explosive barrels. Grab a barrel, throw it at a sac, and then shoot the barrel to detonate it. This will expose the sac, allowing you to damage it with your weapons. After destroying one sac, The Mother will become more aggressive, summoning more infected and increasing her attacks. Prioritize clearing the summoned infected to give yourself breathing room. Repeat the process for all four sacs. Once all sacs are destroyed, The Mother will be vulnerable, allowing you to finish her off with sustained fire or powerful melee attacks. This fight requires constant movement, good aim, and effective crowd control.
