Some opponents will aggressively press your players from the moment you receive the ball, trying to force turnovers high up the pitch. This can be suffocating if you're not prepared.
Strategy:
- Quick Passing: One-touch passing is essential. Don't hold onto the ball for too long.
- Use Your Goalkeeper: Don't be afraid to pass back to your goalkeeper to reset play and draw out their press.
- Long Balls: If they commit too many players forward, a well-placed long ball over the top to a fast striker can bypass their entire midfield and defense.
- Dribbling Out: Players with high dribbling and composure can sometimes dribble past the initial press, creating a huge advantage.
- Switch Play: Quickly switch the ball from one side of the pitch to the other to exploit the space they leave open.
- Player Instructions: Set your fullbacks to 'Join the Attack' or 'Overlap' to provide passing options out wide.
Be calm under pressure and use their aggression against them.
