What are Spirit Ashes?

Spirit Ashes are consumable items that allow you to summon spectral companions. These companions can range from wolves and soldiers to more powerful knights and even dragons. Acquiring Spirit Ashes

Your first Spirit Ash, the Lone Wolf Ashes, is typically given to you by Renna (or Ranni) at the Church of Elleh early in the game, provided you have a spectral steed (Torrent). Many other Spirit Ashes can be found throughout the Lands Between:

  • Dungeons: Many caves, catacombs, and ruins contain Spirit Ashes as loot.
  • Boss Rewards: Some bosses drop unique Spirit Ashes upon defeat.
  • Merchants: Certain merchants sell Spirit Ashes.

Summoning Mechanics

You can only summon Spirit Ashes in specific areas marked by a tombstone icon on your HUD. These areas are usually near bosses or in challenging combat encounters. To summon, you must have the Spirit Ash equipped in your quick item slots and have sufficient FP (Focus Points) to use it.

Upgrading Spirit Ashes

  • Roderika: The primary NPC for upgrading Spirit Ashes is Roderika. You'll first find her at the Stormhill Shack, and later she moves to the Roundtable Hold.
  • Glovewort: Spirit Ashes are upgraded using Grave and Ghost Gloveworts. Grave Gloveworts are used for basic ashes, while Ghost Gloveworts are for more potent ashes.
  • Upgrade Tiers: Spirit Ashes can be upgraded up to +10. Each upgrade increases their damage, defense, and sometimes their survivability.
