The Character Creation Process:

When you start a new game, you'll be guided through several key decisions:

  • Name Your Tarnished: Choose a name for your character. This name will be displayed in certain menus and online interactions.
  • Keepsake Selection: This is a crucial choice that provides a small, but often useful, starting bonus. You can choose one Keepsake to begin your journey with. Some popular and effective Keepsakes include:
    • Golden Seed: Grants an extra charge for your Flask of Crimson Tears or Flask of Cerulean Tears from the start. Highly recommended for beginners.
    • Crimson Amber Medallion: Increases your maximum HP.
    • Stonesword Key: Allows you to break Impassable Doorways sealed by Erdtrees, often leading to valuable loot.
    • Lands Between Rune: Grants a significant amount of Runes to level up early.

Key Considerations for New Players:

  • Class: For newcomers, classes like the Vagabond, Samurai, or Astrologer are often recommended due to their balanced starting stats and useful equipment. The Wretch offers the most freedom but is challenging for beginners.
  • Keepsake: The Golden Seed is almost universally beneficial for new players, providing more healing early on. Stonesword Keys can be useful if you're feeling adventurous and want to explore optional areas immediately.
