Whether you prefer to decimate foes with brute strength, weave intricate spells, or employ swift, precise strikes, the Land of Shadow provides new tools and challenges to accommodate your chosen playstyle. Understanding these archetypes and how they can be adapted with the expansion's new content is key to creating a powerful and effective Tarnished.

1. The Strength/Heavy Weapon Build:

This classic archetype focuses on high Strength (STR) and Vigor (VIG) stats, wielding colossal weapons, greatswords, and greataxes. The goal is to stagger enemies with powerful, slow attacks and deal massive damage. Shadow of the Erdtree introduces new colossal weapons and heavy armaments that benefit greatly from this build. Prioritize Vigor for survivability, Endurance (END) for stamina and equip load, and Strength for damage.

• Key Stats: VIG, END, STR
• Weapon Examples: Greatswords, Colossal Swords, Greataxes, Great Hammers.
• New Additions: Look for new colossal weapons with unique weapon skills.

2. The Dexterity/Light Weapon Build:

Focusing on Dexterity (DEX) and often Vigor, this build excels at fast attacks, critical hits, and applying status effects like Bleed or Frostbite. Curved swords, katanas, rapiers, and daggers are common choices. The agility of this build allows for quick dodges and capitalizing on small openings. New katanas and curved swords in the expansion will likely synergize well with DEX builds.

3. The Intelligence/Sorcery Build:

This archetype relies on Intelligence (INT) to cast powerful Sorceries from a distance. Staves are essential for amplifying spell damage and casting speed. The Land of Shadow introduces new Glintstone spells and staves that can offer unique utility or devastating offensive capabilities. Mind (MND) is crucial for FP, and Vigor for survival.

4. The Faith/Incantation Build:

Faith (FTH) builds utilize Sacred Seals to cast a wide array of Incantations, from offensive lightning spears and fireballs to supportive buffs and healing spells. The expansion may introduce new Faith-based spells and seals that offer powerful new options. Vigor and Mind are important, alongside Faith for spell potency.

This build can be incredibly potent against many enemies, especially bosses, due to the rapid buildup of status effects. New weapons and spells that scale with Arcane are likely to appear.
