Exploring the Abandoned Ailing Village and Belurat Gaol

This section details the exploration of the desolate Abandoned Ailing Village and the ominous Belurat Gaol, including key items, optional encounters, and the path forward. Prepare for a challenging journey through this cursed land.

The Path to the Abandoned Ailing Village

Begin your journey from the Three-Path Cross - Site of Grace. Carefully traverse north along the cliff edge. Keep an eye out for a Revered Spirit Ash nestled amongst the rocks. Continue onward until you reach the Greatbridge, North - Site of Grace. Activate this crucial checkpoint.

Near the Site of Grace, you'll find a spectral presence. Interact with the ghost to collect a Human Bone Shard and x2 Black Pyrefly. On a nearby wooden platform, a valuable Ailment Talisman awaits. Across from the ghost, within the confines of a dilapidated house, you can find a Broken Rune.

The Ghostflame Dragon and its Spoils

Venture west from the village, towards the shimmering lake. Here, you will confront the formidable optional field boss, the Ghostflame Dragon. This beast commands potent spectral flames and can be a significant threat.

Ghostflame Dragon Encounter Details:

  • Location: West of the Abandoned Ailing Village, near the lake.
  • Recommended Strategy: The dragon is susceptible to physical damage, particularly when its wings are targeted. Maintain a safe distance to avoid its sweeping flame attacks and use the terrain for cover. Consider using ranged attacks or fast-casting spells if you have them.
  • Rewards:
    • x1 Dragon Heart
    • x1 Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone

After its defeat, search the area near the dragon's remains. A corpse will be found bearing the Moonveil Katana, a powerful Great Katana with unique skills. Its special skill, Transient Moonlight, allows for a swift, spectral blade attack that deals significant damage and can stagger enemies.

Discovering Belurat Gaol

Proceed south from the Abandoned Ailing Village. Near an altar, you will find the Gravebird Armor set. Follow the winding body of water until you reach the imposing entrance to Belurat Gaol.

Upon entering Belurat Gaol, immediately seek out and activate the Belurat Gaol - Site of Grace. This will serve as your new checkpoint within this dangerous area.

Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze: A Formidable Duelist

Within the confines of Belurat Gaol, you will encounter an optional boss: Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze. This agile and skilled warrior presents a significant challenge, relying on swift swordplay and evasive maneuvers.

Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze Encounter Details:

  • Location: Within Belurat Gaol.
  • Recommended Strategy: Onze is highly mobile and attacks with rapid sword combos. Patience and precise dodging are key. Look for openings after his longer attack chains. Consider using weapons with reach or status effects like Frostbite or Bleed, as these can disrupt his aggressive fighting style.
  • Reward: Upon defeating Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze, you will receive the Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh (Spirit Ash). This Spirit Ash summons a formidable ally that can assist you in combat with its own unique fighting style.

Note: While the Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze boss fight is located within Belurat Gaol, a detailed strategy guide for this specific encounter can be found in its dedicated boss section for easier navigation.
