Remembrances

Remembrances are unique key items obtained by defeating major bosses in Elden Ring. These powerful mementos hold the essence of fallen demigods and powerful beings, allowing You to exchange them for powerful weapons, spells, talismans, or a large sum of Runes. Understanding how to obtain and utilize Remembrances is crucial for acquiring some of the game's most potent gear and for progressing your build.

Each Remembrance corresponds to a specific boss and offers a choice between two distinct rewards. The Finger Reader Enia in Roundtable Hold is the sole vendor for these items. This guide will detail the importance of Remembrances, how to acquire them, and the choices you'll face when exchanging them.

Obtaining Remembrances:

Remembrances are dropped exclusively by Shardbearer bosses and other significant, story-related bosses. Upon defeating such a boss, you will automatically receive their Remembrance. These are not items you can find randomly; they are tied directly to story progression and major boss encounters.

Exchanging Remembrances:

Once you have a Remembrance, you must take it to the Finger Reader Enia in Roundtable Hold. She will offer to trade the Remembrance for one of two unique items associated with the boss who dropped it. You can choose to receive a weapon, a spell (Sorcery or Incantation), or a Talisman. Alternatively, you can choose to consume the Remembrance for a substantial amount of Runes, though this is generally not recommended unless you are certain you do not want the associated items.

Duplicate Rewards and Remembrance Trading:

A critical aspect of Remembrances is that you can only choose one reward per Remembrance. If you want both rewards offered by a single Remembrance, you will need to acquire a second copy of that Remembrance by defeating the boss again in New Game Plus, or by trading a duplicate Remembrance with Enia for Runes and then finding another copy.

Enia can trade duplicate Remembrances for Runes. However, if you have a Remembrance you've already received both rewards from, or if you simply want to trade a Remembrance for Runes without consuming it, you can do so. This is also how you can obtain a second copy of a specific reward if you missed out on the first choice.

Notable Remembrances and Their Rewards:

Here are some of the most significant Remembrances and the powerful items they offer:

Boss Remembrance Reward 1 Reward 2
Godrick the Grafted Remembrance of the Grafted Grafted Blade Greatsword (Greatsword) Dragon Greatclaw (Greataxe)
Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen Dark Moon Greatsword (Greatsword) Rennala's Full Moon (Sorcery)
Starscourage Radahn Remembrance of the Starscourage Starscourage Greatsword (Greatsword) Radahn's Rain of Arrows (Great Arrow)
Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy Remembrance of the Blasphemous Blasphemous Blade (Greatsword) Taker's Flames (Incantation)
Malenia, Blade of Miquella Remembrance of the Rot Goddess Hand of Malenia (Katana) Scarlet Aeonia (Incantation)
Morgott, the Omen King Remembrance of the Omen King Morgott's Cursed Sword (Curved Greatsword) Omen Bairn (Incantation)

Strategic Choices:

When faced with a Remembrance, consider your current build and what you need most. If you're a melee fighter, a powerful weapon might be the priority. If you're a spellcaster, a potent sorcery or incantation could be game-changing. Talismans can also offer significant advantages.

Don't be afraid to trade a Remembrance for Runes if you're close to a level-up or need to purchase a crucial item. However, always remember that you can revisit Enia later to trade for the other reward if you acquire a duplicate Remembrance.
