Roderika is a pivotal NPC for any Tarnished relying on Spirit Ashes in their journey through the Lands Between. Initially found as a forlorn figure, she eventually becomes your dedicated Spirit Tuner at the Roundtable Hold, allowing you to strengthen your spectral allies. This guide will walk you through her questline and the mechanics of Spirit Tuning.

Roderika's Initial Encounter & Chrysalids' Memento

Your first encounter with Roderika will be at the Stormhill Shack, located in Limgrave. She's seated by the fireplace, visibly distressed. Exhaust her dialogue options here. She will express her despair and gift you the Sitting Sideways gesture.

To progress her quest, you must find the Chrysalids' Memento. This key item is located within Stormveil Castle. From the main gate, head left and navigate the ramparts until you reach a room filled with Grafted Scions. The Memento is on a corpse in this room, near a large pile of bodies. It's a somewhat hidden area, so explore thoroughly.

Relocating Roderika to Roundtable Hold

Once you have the Chrysalids' Memento:

  1. Return to Roderika at the Stormhill Shack and present her with the Memento.
  2. Fast travel to the Roundtable Hold. You will find Roderika now residing near the fireplace, opposite Smithing Master Hewg.
  3. Speak with Roderika again. She will still be uncertain of her purpose.
  4. Next, speak with Smithing Master Hewg. Select the dialogue option regarding Roderika.
  5. Return to Roderika and speak with her once more.
  6. Go back to Hewg and discuss Roderika again.
  7. Finally, speak to Roderika one last time. She will express her newfound determination and open her Spirit Tuning service.

After this sequence, Roderika will be permanently available for Spirit Tuning at the Roundtable Hold.

The Art of Spirit Tuning

Spirit Tuning is the process of upgrading your Spirit Ashes, making them more resilient, deal more damage, and generally more effective in combat. This is crucial for late-game encounters and challenging bosses.

Required Materials: Grave Gloveworts & Ghost Gloveworts

To tune your Spirit Ashes, you'll need specific crafting materials:

  • Grave Gloveworts: Used to upgrade standard Spirit Ashes (e.g., Lone Wolf Ashes, Godrick Soldiers Ashes). These are commonly found in catacombs and crypts throughout the Lands Between.
  • Ghost Gloveworts: Used to upgrade "renowned" Spirit Ashes (e.g., Mimic Tear Ashes, Black Knife Tiche Ashes). These are typically found in more challenging dungeons, particularly those associated with specific lore or powerful enemies.

Both types of Gloveworts come in different tiers (e.g., Grave Glovewort [1], Grave Glovewort [2], etc.), corresponding to the upgrade level. Higher-tier Gloveworts are required for higher-level upgrades.

Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearings

To ensure a steady supply of Gloveworts, you can find Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearings. Delivering these to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold will allow you to purchase Gloveworts directly from them using Runes. This is invaluable as you progress and need to upgrade multiple spirits or reach higher tuning levels.

  • Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing [1]: Found in the Wyndham Catacombs (Altus Plateau). Unlocks Grave Glovewort [1], [2], [3].
  • Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing [2]: Found in the Giant's Mountaintop Catacombs (Mountaintops of the Giants). Unlocks Grave Glovewort [4], [5], [6].
