Conjuration Spells
Conjuration magic in The Elder Scrolls VI allows you to summon creatures, weapons, and even bound spirits to fight alongside you or aid you in other ways. This school of magic is incredibly versatile, offering both offensive and defensive capabilities, and can sificantly alter your approach to combat and exploration.
The primary applications of Conjuration magic include:
- Summoning Creatures: The most iconic aspect of Conjuration is the ability to summon Daedra, undead, or other creatures to fight for you. These summoned allies can draw enemy aggro, deal damage, and provide valuable support. You might summon a fearsome Atronach to lay waste to your enemies, or a spectral Assassin to deal with troublesome targets.
- Bound Weapons: Conjuration allows you to summon magical weapons that are often more powerful than conventional arms, especially early in the game. These bound weapons can be particularly useful if you haven't yet acquired powerful gear or if you need a specific type of weapon for a particular situation.
- Reanimate Undead: You can also use Conjuration to raise fallen enemies from the dead, turning them into temporary allies. This is a powerful way to bolster your forces, especially in areas with many corpses.
- Soul Trapping: While not directly a combat spell, the Soul Trap spell is intrinsically linked to Conjuration, allowing you to capture the souls of slain creatures. These souls are essential for enchanting powerful gear.
The effectiveness of your Conjuration spells will depend on your Magicka pool, Magicka regeneration, and the specific perks you invest in within the Conjuration skill tree. As you level up, you'll be able to summon more powerful creatures, maintain summons for longer durations, and even have multiple summons active simultaneously.
When utilizing Conjuration, consider these strategies:
- Summon Placement: Strategically summon your creatures to flank enemies, protect yourself, or engage the most dangerous threats.
- Creature Synergy: Some summoned creatures have unique abilities that can complement your own playstyle. For example, a Frost Atronach can slow enemies, allowing you to land more hits.
- Bound Weapon Advantage: Bound weapons are often weightless and can be conjured instantly, making them ideal for quick combat or when you're over-encumbered.
- Soul Gem Management: Always carry empty soul gems to capture souls for enchanting. This is a vital part of the Conjuration economy.
