Managing Encumbrance & Inventory
Navigating the vast world of The Elder Scrolls VI without becoming overburdened is a critical skill for any adventurer. Encumbrance, the limit to how much weight you can carry, directly impacts your movement speed and ability to fast travel. Effectively managing your inventory is key to avoiding the frustration of being unable to pick up valuable loot or move efficiently.
Your carrying capacity is primarily determined by your character's Strength attribute (or a similar stat that governs physical prowess). As you level up, investing points into this attribute will directly increase your maximum carry weight. Certain racial bonuses or unique items, such as enchanted rings or amulets, can also provide passive boosts to your carrying capacity. Keep an eye out for these valuable gear pieces.
Regularly visiting merchants in towns like Mournhold or Riften is essential for offloading unwanted items. Prioritize selling items that are heavy and have a low value-to-weight ratio. Weapons and armor that you no longer use, crafting materials you have in abundance, and miscellaneous items that don't serve a purpose should be sold. Remember that different merchants may offer better prices for specific types of goods, so it can be beneficial to shop around.
