New Game+ & Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Knight! You've cleansed Land's End and brought peace (or at least a temporary reprieve) to the Blighted realm. But your journey doesn't have to end there. Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights offers robust New Game+ and post-game content to challenge your skills, deepen your understanding of the lore, and unlock even more powerful abilities.
New Game+ (NG+)
Upon completing the game and achieving any ending, you'll unlock the option to start a New Game+. This isn't just a simple replay; NG+ introduces significant changes that require a refined strategy and a deeper understanding of Lily's abilities and Spirit synergies.
Starting NG+
- After the credits roll and you return to the title screen, select "New Game+".
- You will be prompted to choose a save slot. You can overwrite your completed game save or start a new one.
- Confirm your selection to begin your new journey.
What Carries Over?
When starting NG+, a significant portion of your progress from your previous playthrough is retained, allowing you to jump back into the action with a powerful Lily:
- Lily's Level: Your level and all accumulated EXP carry over.
- Equipped Spirits: All Spirits you've acquired and upgraded will be available from the start.
- Relics: All Relics you've found and equipped will be in your inventory.
- Skills and Upgrades: All learned skills (e.g., Double Jump, Dash) and Spirit upgrades (e.g., Attack Up, Skill Cooldown) are retained.
- Items: Consumable items like Stale Bread, Ancient Souls, and Spirit Essences carry over.
- Currency: Gold accumulated in your previous playthrough is retained.
What Does NOT Carry Over?
- Map Progress: The map will be completely reset, requiring you to re-explore all areas and uncover the fog of war.
- Respite Points: All Respite points will need to be reactivated.
- Key Items: Story-critical key items (e.g., specific keys for doors) will be reset, requiring you to re-acquire them as part of the narrative progression.
- Bosses and Enemies: All bosses and regular enemies will respawn.
New Game+ Specific Changes
NG+ isn't just a harder version of the base game; it introduces unique elements:
- Increased Difficulty: Enemies will have significantly increased health, damage, and sometimes new attack patterns. Bosses, in particular, become formidable challenges. This scaling is noticeable from the very first area.
- "Miserable" Difficulty: This is the default difficulty for NG+ and cannot be changed. It's designed for players who have mastered the game's mechanics.
- New Relic Slot: A significant addition in NG+ is the unlocking of a sixth Relic slot. This allows for even more powerful and diverse build customization, enabling you to stack more beneficial effects or combine previously incompatible Relics. This extra slot is available from the very beginning of your NG+ run.
- "Miserable" Ending: There is a unique ending tied to completing the game on the "Miserable" difficulty. This ending offers additional lore insights and a satisfying conclusion for dedicated players.
NG+ Strategy Tips
- Optimize Your Build: With the sixth Relic slot, experiment with new combinations. Consider Relics that boost specific Spirit damage, reduce cooldowns, or enhance survivability. For example, combining Amulet of the Blighted with Fungus Charm and Decaying Mushroom can create a potent poison build.
- Master Spirit Synergies: The increased difficulty demands efficient use of your Spirits. Understand which Spirits excel in crowd control, single-target damage, or utility. Don't be afraid to switch your Spirit loadout frequently to adapt to different enemy types and boss encounters.
- Focus on Dodging and Parrying: Enemy attacks hit much harder. Prioritize learning enemy attack patterns and mastering Lily's dodge and parry mechanics. The Parrying Dagger (Gerrod's Spirit) becomes even more invaluable for creating openings.
- Explore Thoroughly: Even though the map resets, revisiting areas can still yield valuable resources like Spirit Essences for further upgrades, which are crucial for keeping pace with the difficulty scaling.
- Prioritize Upgrades: Continuously upgrade your favorite Spirits and Lily's stats using the resources you collect. Don't hoard your materials; invest them to stay powerful.
Post-Game Content: Boss Rush Mode
Beyond NG+, the game offers a dedicated challenge for those who wish to test their mettle against the game's most formidable foes: the Boss Rush Mode.
Unlocking Boss Rush
Boss Rush Mode is unlocked once you have completed the game at least once (achieving any ending). It can be accessed from the main menu.
Accessing Boss Rush
- From the title screen, select "Boss Rush".
- You will be presented with a list of bosses you have defeated in your save file.
Boss Rush Mechanics
- Challenge Your Mettle: This mode allows you to re-fight any boss you have previously defeated in the main game.
- Selectable Bosses: You can choose to fight individual bosses or undertake a gauntlet of multiple bosses in succession.
- No Healing Between Fights (Gauntlet): If you choose to fight multiple bosses in a gauntlet, your health and available healing (Prayer uses) will NOT reset between fights, making it a true test of endurance and skill.
- Loadout Selection: Before starting a Boss Rush, you can select your preferred Spirit loadout, Relics, and Lily's level from your completed save file. This allows for strategic customization for each boss encounter.
- Ranking System: Boss Rush features a ranking system based on completion time and damage taken. Strive for higher ranks to prove your mastery.
- No New Rewards (Primarily): The primary reward for Boss Rush is the challenge itself and the satisfaction of overcoming difficult encounters. There are typically no new items or story content unlocked through this mode, but it's excellent for honing your combat skills and experimenting with builds.
Boss Rush Strategy Tips
- Tailor Your Loadout: For each specific boss, consider which Spirits and Relics are most effective. For example, for aerial bosses, ensure you have strong anti-air options like Siegrid or Gerrod's Jump Attack. For fast, aggressive bosses, prioritize defensive Relics or those that boost parry windows.
- Practice Makes Perfect: Use Boss Rush to practice specific boss mechanics without having to replay entire sections of the game. This is invaluable for mastering the "Miserable" difficulty in NG+.
- Experiment with Combos: Try out new Spirit combinations and attack sequences that you might not have risked in the main game. Discover powerful synergies that can drastically reduce boss fight times.
- Study Boss Patterns: Even if you've beaten them before, take the opportunity to meticulously learn every boss's attack pattern, tells, and vulnerabilities. This knowledge is paramount for flawless victories.
