How to Unlock the Medium Backpack in Enshrouded
Increasing your inventory space is crucial for efficient exploration and resource gathering in Enshrouded. The Medium Backpack is a significant upgrade that allows you to carry more loot, significantly reducing the need for frequent trips back to your base.
Unlocking the Medium Backpack is tied to a specific NPC and a subsequent crafting recipe. You'll need to find and rescue the Hunter NPC. The Hunter is typically found in an Ancient Vault, often located in the earlier regions of the game. Once you have rescued the Hunter and brought him back to your base, you will need to construct his specific crafting station, the Hunter's Workbench. This workbench is where you will be able to craft the Medium Backpack.
The crafting recipe for the Medium Backpack requires specific materials. These materials are generally obtainable through gathering and hunting in the early to mid-game areas. Common ingredients include:
- Leather: Obtained by processing animal hides. You'll need to hunt animals like deer and wolves for their hides.
- Plant Fibers: Gathered from various plants found throughout the world.
- Fungus: Found in damp or underground areas, often within the Shroud.
- Bugs: Some recipes might require specific insect parts.
The exact quantities of each material will be displayed in the Hunter's Workbench crafting menu. Once you have gathered all the necessary components, simply interact with the Hunter's Workbench, select the Medium Backpack from the available recipes, and craft it. Equipping the Medium Backpack will immediately increase your carrying capacity.
Steps to unlock the Medium Backpack:
- Locate the Hunter: Find the Ancient Vault containing the Hunter NPC.
- Rescue the Hunter: Defeat any guardians and interact with the Hunter to rescue him.
- Return to Base: Bring the Hunter back to your established base.
- Build Hunter's Workbench: Construct the Hunter's Workbench at your base.
- Gather Materials: Collect Leather, Plant Fibers, Fungus, and any other required components.

After crafting the Medium Backpack, you will also unlock the ability to craft the Large Backpack, which offers even more inventory space, by further upgrading the Hunter's Workbench and gathering more advanced materials.
