Crafting Material Farming
Mastering the art of resource acquisition is paramount to your survival and progression in Enshrouded. This section details effective strategies for gathering essential crafting materials, ensuring you're always prepared for the next upgrade or build.
Early Game Essentials
Focus on these foundational materials as you begin your journey:
Wood
- Source: Trees scattered throughout the starting areas (e.g., The Springlands).
- Strategy: Use your starting axe. Chop down any tree you see. For faster gathering, aim for larger trees. Consider clearing areas around your base for easier access.
Stone
- Source: Exposed rock formations, small boulders, and rocky outcrops.
- Strategy: Your starting pickaxe is sufficient. Look for clusters of stones. Areas with cliffs or mountainous terrain are rich in stone.
Flax & Wood Fiber
- Source: Flax plants (yellow flowers) and the bark of certain trees.
- Strategy: Flax can be harvested by hand or with a sickle. Wood Fiber is obtained by breaking down wood or specific plants.
- Location: Flax is common in grassy areas. Wood Fiber is abundant wherever you find trees.
Mid-Game Material Focus
As you venture further and face tougher challenges, these materials become crucial:
Copper Ore
- Source: Copper veins found in rocky, mountainous regions.
- Strategy: Requires a higher-tier pickaxe. Look for distinct reddish-brown ore veins embedded in rock faces.
- Location: Commonly found in the northern parts of the initial shroud-affected areas, often near cliffs and caves.
Tin Ore
- Source: Tin veins, similar in appearance to copper but with a greyish hue.
- Strategy: Also requires a higher-tier pickaxe.
- Location: Often found in proximity to Copper Ore deposits, particularly in mountainous and cave systems.
Shrouded Sanctifier (for Shroud Navigation)
- Source: Enemies within the Shroud, particularly tougher variants.
- Strategy: Equip yourself with fire-resistant gear and adequate healing. Focus on clearing out Shroud-infested areas.
- Location: Any area covered by the Shroud. The deeper and more dangerous the Shroud, the higher the chance of dropping this item.
Advanced & Specialized Materials
For high-level crafting and base building, you'll need to seek out these rarer resources:
Iron Ore
- Source: Iron veins, typically found deeper within the world and in more dangerous zones.
- Strategy: Requires a robust pickaxe and often necessitates venturing into heavily Shrouded areas.
- Location: Look in the western and southern parts of the map, often in abandoned mines or deep cave systems.
Saltpeter & Sulfur
- Source: Found in specific environmental nodes and sometimes dropped by certain enemies.
- Strategy: Requires exploration of diverse biomes.
- Location: Saltpeter can be found in arid or desert-like regions. Sulfur is often located near volcanic activity or in specific cave formations.
Fungus & Insects
- Source: Harvested from specific flora and fauna within the Shroud.
- Strategy: Requires careful navigation of the Shroud and often involves fighting off mutated creatures.
- Location: Shroud-affected forests and caves are prime locations for unique fungi and insect life.
Remember to always be aware of your surroundings, manage your stamina, and consider building temporary bases or using fast travel points to optimize your farming routes.
