Enchanting
Enchanting in Enshrouded allows you to imbue your weapons and armor with powerful magical properties, significantly boosting your combat effectiveness and survivability. This process requires specific crafting stations, materials, and recipes. Mastering enchanting is crucial for progressing through the game's tougher challenges.
Unlocking the Art of Enchanting
The ability to enchant items is tied to a specific NPC: the Sage Crafting Station. You'll need to find and rescue the Blacksmith, who can then craft this station for you. The Blacksmith is typically found in the Braelyn Bridge area, often within or near the ruins.
The Eldritch Altar: Your Enchanting Hub
Once you have the Blacksmith and can craft the Sage Crafting Station, you'll need to upgrade it further to the Eldritch Altar. This advanced station is where all enchanting takes place. To build and upgrade the Eldritch Altar, you will require:
- Bronze Ingots
- Wood
- Stone Bricks
- Shrouded Sanctifier Dust (This rare material is found in Shroud areas and is often dropped by tougher enemies or found in chests.)
The Enchanting Process: Step-by-Step
- Gather Enchanting Materials: The specific materials needed for enchantments vary depending on the desired effect. Common materials include:
- Amber Shards: Found in Amber veins, often in rocky or mountainous areas.
- Lumen Crystals: Harvested from Lumen trees, typically found in Shroud areas.
- Insect Chitin: Dropped by various insectoid enemies.
- Bone Dust: Obtained from dismembering skeletons or certain enemy types.
- Shrouded Sanctifier Dust: As mentioned, crucial for higher-tier enchantments.
- Acquire Enchantment Recipes: You won't automatically know all enchantments. Recipes are learned by finding scrolls or through progression with certain NPCs. Keep an eye out for glowing scrolls in dungeons and ruins.
- Access the Eldritch Altar: Interact with your Eldritch Altar.
- Select an Item to Enchant: Place the weapon or armor piece you wish to enchant into the Eldritch Altar's interface.
- Choose an Enchantment: If you have the required recipe and materials, the available enchantments will be displayed. Select the desired enchantment.
- Confirm Enchantment: Once you've selected the enchantment and confirmed you have the materials, proceed to enchant the item. The item will be permanently altered with the chosen magical property.
Important Enchanting Tips:
- Tiered Enchantments: Enchantments come in different tiers (e.g., Minor, Greater, Superior). Higher tiers offer more potent effects but require rarer materials and higher-level crafting stations.
- Randomization: When enchanting, the specific bonus granted by an enchantment can have some variance. It's possible to get slightly better rolls than others.
- Item Rarity: Higher rarity items (e.g., Epic or Legendary) can often hold more enchantments or have stronger base enchantment slots.
- Experimentation: Don't be afraid to experiment with different enchantments on various gear pieces to find combinations that suit your playstyle.
- Resource Management: Shrouded Sanctifier Dust is a particularly valuable resource. Prioritize its collection and use it wisely for your most important gear.
