Exploration & Discovery Tips

Venturing into the vast and dangerous world of Enshrouded is key to survival and progression. Mastering exploration will unlock new resources, crafting recipes, and powerful gear. Here are some essential tips to help you discover the secrets of this land:

Navigating the Shroud

The Shroud is a treacherous, mist-filled area that drains your health over time. However, it also contains valuable resources and unique enemies.

  • Craft a Glider: Early on, prioritize crafting a Glider. This allows for vertical traversal and can help you escape dangerous situations or reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
  • Manage Shroud Timer: Keep an eye on your Shroud timer. Look for Shroud Pylons (glowing obelisks) which act as temporary safe zones and refill your timer. Destroying them can sometimes yield valuable loot.
  • Seek Higher Ground: Before descending into dense Shroud areas, find a high vantage point to survey the landscape. This can help you spot resource nodes, enemy encampments, and potential escape routes.
  • Follow the Light: Often, glowing flora or ancient ruins will hint at hidden paths or points of interest within the Shroud.

Resource Gathering Strategies

Every biome offers unique resources crucial for crafting and survival.

  • Prioritize Tools: Upgrade your tools, such as the Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe, as soon as possible. This significantly speeds up resource gathering and allows you to harvest tougher materials like Copper Ore.
  • Identify Biomes: Different biomes yield different resources. For example, the starting area is rich in wood and stone, while later biomes offer metals like Tin Ore and Iron Ore.
  • Mark Your Finds: Use your map to mark locations of rare resource nodes, such as Amber deposits or specific herb patches.
  • Loot Everything: Break down all breakable objects, from crates and barrels to fallen trees and rocks. You never know what useful items or crafting components you might find.

Uncovering Points of Interest

Enshrouded's world is dotted with ancient ruins, abandoned settlements, and hidden caves, each holding potential rewards.

  • Investigate Ruins: Many ruins contain chests with valuable loot, lore entries, and sometimes even Skill Points or Crafting Recipes. Be wary of enemies that often guard these locations.
  • Explore Caves: Caves can be dangerous but are often packed with resources like Iron Ore and unique enemies. Ensure you have adequate light sources, such as torches or a Torch item, before entering.
  • Listen for Clues: Pay attention to ambient sounds. The distant clang of metal, the growl of beasts, or the faint hum of magic can indicate nearby points of interest or threats.
  • Follow Roads and Paths: While off-roading can lead to discoveries, established roads and paths often lead to settlements, quest givers, or important landmarks.

Combat and Survival

Exploration often leads to combat. Being prepared is essential.

  • Scout Ahead: Before engaging a group of enemies, try to get a sense of their numbers and types. This allows you to plan your approach, whether it's stealth or a direct assault.
  • Utilize Terrain: Use the environment to your advantage. Lure enemies into choke points, use elevated positions for ranged attacks, or find cover to heal.
  • Carry Healing Items: Always keep a good stock of Bandages and other healing consumables. You'll need them after tough encounters.
  • Learn Enemy Patterns: Each enemy has distinct attack patterns. Observing and learning these will make combat significantly easier.
