9.8. Labs Map Guide

The Laboratory, or Labs, is a high-risk, high-reward map in Escape from Tarkov, known for its intense PvP encounters and valuable loot. This indoor, sterile environment is a maze of interconnected rooms, hallways, and server rooms, demanding precise movement and tactical awareness. Access requires a special keycard, making it an exclusive and challenging raid.

Labs is characterized by its unique gameplay loop. Players spawn in and must navigate the facility to find high-tier loot, including rare weapon mods, valuable electronics, and high-end armor. The map is heavily populated by powerful AI Scavs, often equipped with high-level gear, and is a prime hunting ground for other geared PMCs. Key areas to be aware of include the central atrium, the various server rooms, the medical bay, and the offices. Each area has multiple entry and exit points, leading to frequent firefights.

Key features and areas of Labs:

  • Keycard Access: Entry requires a specific colored keycard (e.g., Red, Blue, Violet).
  • High-Tier Loot: Abundant in rare weapon mods, electronics, and high-level gear.
  • AI Scavs: Heavily armed and dangerous, often acting as a significant threat.
  • Player vs. Player (PvP): Extremely common due to the map's lucrative nature.
  • Central Atrium: A large open area with multiple flanking routes.
  • Server Rooms: Contain valuable loot and are often contested.
  • Medical Bay: Features high-value medical loot and potential spawns for rare items.

Success in Labs hinges on excellent spatial awareness, quick reflexes, and a well-coordinated team if playing in a group. Knowing the common spawn points, extract routes, and chokepoints is crucial. The sound des is also paramount; the echoing nature of the facility means footsteps and gunfire can be heard from a distance, providing valuable intel. Always ensure you have sufficient ammunition and a reliable weapon, as engagements are often sudden and brutal. The constant threat of other PMCs means you can never truly relax, even when looting.
