12.8. Anti-Cheat and Fair Play
Maintaining a fair and enjoyable environment in Escape from Tarkov is a top priority for Battlestate Games, and their anti-cheat measures are a crucial part of this. While no system is perfect, understanding the game's stance on cheating and fair play is important for all players. The developers actively work to detect and ban players who use unauthorized software.
Battlestate Games employs a multi-layered approach to anti-cheat. This includes server-side checks, client-side detection, and player reporting systems. The game utilizes Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), a widely recognized anti-cheat solution, to monitor for known cheating software. However, the developers also implement their own proprietary detection methods. Players caught cheating face permanent bans, with their in-game progress and items forfeited. The game's terms of service strictly prohibit the use of any third-party software that provides an unfair advantage, including aimbots, wallhacks, and speed hacks.
Key aspects of anti-cheat and fair play:
- Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC): The primary anti-cheat software used.
- Proprietary Detection: Battlestate Games' own methods for identifying cheaters.
- Player Reporting: A system allowing players to report suspicious behavior.
- Permanent Bans: The consequence for confirmed cheating.
- Prohibited Software: Includes aimbots, wallhacks, speed hacks, and any other unauthorized programs.
- Account Sharing & RMT: Also considered violations of fair play.
While the anti-cheat system is constantly evolving, You can contribute to a fairer game by reporting suspicious activity. If you encounter a player exhibiting unusually accurate aim, impossible movement, or other ss of cheating, use the in-game reporting tool. Avoid engaging with suspected cheaters in chat, as this can sometimes be used to gather information. Remember that sometimes, high-level players or skilled Scavs can appear to be cheating due to their gear and experience. However, persistent and undeniable evidence of cheating should always be reported. Battlestate Games also actively combats RMT (Real Money Trading) and account sharing, which are considered violations of fair play and can lead to bans.
