Defense Modules (Shields & Armor)

Ships primarily defend using either shields or armor, with hull as a last resort. Shield modules (shield extenders, shield boosters, shield hardeners) are typically fitted in mid slots. Armor modules (armor plates, armor repairers, armor hardeners) are fitted in low slots. Most ships have bonuses towards one or the other. Active tanking uses repair modules, while passive tanking relies on high hit points and resistances. Always fit resistance modules (e.g., EM Ward Amplifier, Explosive Plating) to counter the damage types you expect to face.
