Action Sequences Explained
Fahrenheit features interactive action sequences that require precise button presses. These sequences, often compared to Dance Dance Revolution without music, involve guiding your character through dangerous actions by reacting quickly to on-screen prompts. Success or failure can lead to different outcomes, from minor missed cutscenes to character death.
Types of Action Sequences:
- PAR (Press and React) Sequences:
These sequences present two colored pads on screen, each with four directional sides: left (blue), right (yellow), down (green), and up (red). The left pad is controlled by character movement keys (default arrow keys, often remapped to WASD), while the right pad uses numpad keys (or arrow keys if WASD is used for movement). During the sequence, parts of the pads light up, and you must press the corresponding key(s) as fast as possible. Incorrect or slow presses result in failure for that combination. Each sequence consists of multiple combinations, with difficulty determining how many keys are pressed per combination. You'll see "GREAT!" or "FAILED!" after each combination, followed by the action's result. "GET READY!" flashes before a new combination starts. These sequences can range from 1 to over 20 combinations.
- Track & Field Sequences:
Identified by a blue, volume-control-like bar on screen, these sequences require you to alternately press two keys as fast as you can. These keys are typically used for turning your character left and right. The goal is to raise the meter as high as possible to successfully pass the sequence.
- Other Action Sequences:
Variations of the above two types may appear. Specific details for these will be provided in the walkthrough as they occur.
