Weapon Categories:

  • Small Guns: Pistols, rifles, submachine guns. Excellent early to mid-game, with powerful late-game options like the Gauss Rifle. Ammunition is common.
  • Big Guns: Miniguns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers. High damage, but heavy and consume a lot of ammunition. Best for specific builds or situations.
  • Energy Weapons: Laser pistols, plasma rifles, gatling lasers. Very powerful late-game, but ammunition can be scarce and expensive. Requires high Energy Weapons skill.
  • Melee Weapons: Knives, clubs, sledgehammers. Good for early game and specific builds. Can be very effective with high Strength and appropriate perks.
  • Unarmed: Fists, brass knuckles, power fists. Can be incredibly powerful with a dedicated build, especially late-game with the Mega Power Fist.
  • Throwing: Grenades, throwing knives. Useful for area-of-effect damage or softening up groups of enemies.

Always carry several weapons if your skills allow, or specialize in one or two types. Remember to check weapon conditions and repair them when necessary (using the Repair skill or a workbench).
