To thrive in Fallout 76, new players should prioritize completing the main storyline quests, especially those introduced in the Wastelanders update. These quests, such as "Wayward Souls," provide valuable guidance and introduce core game mechanics and factions. Starting with "Hunter for Hire" and then speaking to Duchess will kick off a significant storyline.
As you progress, you will encounter various challenges and opportunities. For instance, in the "Secrets Revealed" quest, you'll need to navigate a reactor chamber. This involves:
- Locating a Level 3 locked terminal on the left wall near the left-hand entranceway to hack for a shortcut to the control room.
- Hitting the ventilation override button in the control room to vent the room, eliminating feral ghouls and activating automated security.
- Getting into secured safe areas during the short warning time before venting begins.
- Dealing with robot security, including at least 10 automated Gatling laser turrets and an Assaultron, after the ventilation process.
- Manipulating turrets using the Level 3 locked security terminal in the control room.
- Potentially facing a wendigo or glowing feral ghoul as an area boss before reaching the control room.
After clearing the reactor room, proceed directly west to the gold processing room. Here, you will find 1000 gold bullion. If you sided with the Crater Raiders and Johnny survived, he may attempt to betray you. You can either kill him or use a Charisma 4+ check to talk him out of it, potentially by mentioning what happened with Hal at the Watoga Civic Center.
