Characters by Faction
The inhabitants of Appalachia are as diverse as the landscape itself, with many key characters aling themselves with specific factions. Understanding these affiliations is crucial for navigating the complex political and social landscape of Fallout 76. Each faction boasts unique leaders, quest-givers, and influential figures who shape the narrative and offer distinct opportunities to the player.
The two primary factions introduced with the Wastelanders update are the Settlers and the Raiders. Their leaders and prominent members play pivotal roles in the main questline and offer unique quest chains and rewards.
Settler Characters:
- Ward: The pragmatic and determined leader of the Settlers, stationed at Foundation. He is your primary point of contact for many Settler-focused quests and often directs you to investigate threats or recover vital resources.
- Scribegalactos (or similar characters): Often found within Foundation, these characters might offer lore insights or smaller tasks related to the Settlers' rebuilding efforts.
- Pacifist NPCs: Various other Settlers can be found within Foundation, offering dialogue and contributing to the atmosphere of a community striving for normalcy.
Raider Characters:
- Duchess: The charismatic and shrewd leader of the Raiders, operating out of the Top of the World. She is a central figure in many early Wastelanders quests and often tasks you with tasks that benefit the Raiders' interests.
- Mortimer: A key lieutenant of Duchess, often found assisting her or undertaking missions on her behalf. He embodies the pragmatic and sometimes ruthless nature of the Raiders.
- Raider NPCs: Found in various Raider strongholds like Crater, these characters provide context and can offer smaller quests or services.
Beyond these main factions, other characters and groups exist:
- Brotherhood of Steel: Characters like Elder McNamara and Knight Shin represent the Brotherhood's interests in Appalachia, often focused on technological acquisition and security.
- The Enclave: High-ranking officials within the Enclave, such as MODUS, represent their agenda of restoring pre-war American dominance through advanced technology and control.
Your interactions with these characters, whether through completing their quests or making dialogue choices, will influence your reputation with their respective factions and ultimately shape the future of Appalachia.
