Crafting for Profit & Utility
Mastering crafting in Fallout: New Vegas can significantly enhance your gameplay, offering both utility and profit. From improved healing items to specialized gear, understanding workbench mechanics is key. This section details specific crafting opportunities, including unique recipes and their benefits, helping you optimize your wasteland survival and resource management.
- Improved Healing Powder: At Caesar’s Fort, speak with Siri near the arena. With sufficient Legion fame or a successful 20 Survival check, you can teach her an improved healing powder recipe. She will then reward you with 6 improved healing powders every 24 hours.
- Martini Crafting: After recruiting Dean Domino in the Residential District (following a tense negotiation through deadly traps, toxic Cloud, and ghost people), he grants perks that include the ability to craft martinis.
- Gecko-Backed Leather Armor: This specialized armor can be crafted at workbenches using Gecko Hide and Leather Armor.
- Weapon Mods and Implants: In the Big MT, after reactivating the Sink’s appliances, you can find upgrades hidden across the area. These holotapes unlock advanced functions and perks for the Sink, including weapon mods and implants, transforming it into a powerful pre-war command center.
- General Crafting: Many items, including various equipment and aid, can be found in containers, on ghost people, or crafted at a workbench. Some crafting recipes, like certain items, require a Repair skill of 50+ to be crafted at a workbench.
