Other Faction Quests

Fallout: New Vegas features a complex web of quests, categorized into Main Quests, Side Quests, Unmarked Quests, and Repeatable Quests. Your choices in faction quests can significantly impact your reputation and access to other factions, often leading to conflicting paths and mutually exclusive outcomes. Careful planning is essential to maximize quest completion, though some forks in the narrative are unavoidable.

The game offers a comprehensive guide to all quests, including Main Quests, Side Quests, and DLC content. The main missions are sorted sequentially, but there will be times when the Courier's journey diverges. Beyond the primary storyline, numerous side quests enrich the Mojave Wasteland experience.

  • Main Quests: These missions drive the central narrative of Fallout: New Vegas, such as "They Went That-a-Way," the third Main Quest after leaving Goodsprings.
  • Side Quests: These are noted in the Quest section of your Pip-Boy and offer additional storylines and rewards.
  • Unmarked Quests: These quests are not progressively marked in the Pip-Boy, but you may find notes related to them.
  • Repeatable Quests: Primarily endless fetch-quests focused on earning money, some with specific goals.

Factions play a crucial role, with quests for one often preventing quests for another. For example, gaining fame with the Brotherhood of Steel through quests like "Still in the Dark" and "Pistol Packing" grants access to ammo caches and expanded inventory from Torres at Hidden Valley, along with powerful gear and respect. Conversely, Mr. House might task you with eliminating the Mojave Brotherhood of Steel. Similarly, resolving a hostage standoff in Boulder City between NCR forces and Great Khans can shape your fame with both factions and advance the main quest toward New Vegas, depending on whether you negotiate, rescue hostages, or betray the NCR.

The game features four prominent endings: Yes Man, NCR, Legion, and Mr. House. These endings contradict each other, and choosing a specific path will override others. The guide does not include finale missions for factions in area-specific listings to avoid confusion, but an additional section for these specific missions may be included.
