Mission 6: Jefferson

Welcome to Jefferson, Initiate! This mission is a significant step up in complexity and enemy resistance. You'll be dealing with a mix of tribals and their more heavily armed counterparts, so preparation is key. Ensure your squad is well-equipped with reliable firearms, and consider bringing a medic with a good supply of Super Stimpaks.

Objective: Secure the Jefferson Complex

Your primary goal is to clear out all hostile forces within the Jefferson complex. This area is sprawling and features multiple buildings, each presenting its own tactical challenges. Expect close-quarters combat and ambushes.

Walkthrough

  1. Initial Approach and Perimeter Clearing

    • Upon deployment, you'll be on the outskirts of the complex. Move cautiously towards the main entrance.
    • Threat Assessment: The immediate area is usually patrolled by several lightly armed tribals. Use cover effectively and prioritize targets. A sniper with a Hunting Rifle or Sniper Rifle can be invaluable here for picking off distant threats before they become a problem.
    • Loot Opportunity: Check the bodies of fallen tribals for basic ammunition and occasional tribal weapons like Spear or Throwing Knives.
  2. Entering the Main Building

    • The main building is heavily guarded. Consider using a character with high Sneak to scout ahead and identify enemy positions.
    • Breaching Strategy: A good tactic is to use a character with a high Explosives skill to plant a Plastic Explosive near a cluster of enemies, or to breach a fortified doorway. Alternatively, a well-placed burst from an SMG (like the H&K MP5) can clear rooms quickly.
    • Key Location: Look for a large central hall. This often serves as a chokepoint and will likely be heavily contested.
  3. Clearing the East Wing

    • The East Wing typically houses more advanced tribal warriors, some equipped with Shotguns or even occasional Assault Rifles.
    • Tactical Maneuver: Use doorways and corners to your advantage. Engage enemies one or two at a time if possible. Grenades (Frag Grenades or Plasma Grenades if you have them) can be highly effective against groups in confined spaces.
    • Hidden Cache: In one of the smaller rooms in the East Wing, often behind a locked door (requires Lockpick skill), you might find a Footlocker containing valuable items such as a Combat Shotgun, .44 Magnum Revolver, and several boxes of Shotgun Shells and .44 Magnum Ammo.
  4. West Wing and Command Center

    • The West Wing often leads to what appears to be a command center or a more fortified area. Expect tougher resistance here, including tribals in heavier armor.
    • Elite Enemies: You may encounter "Tribal Leaders" or "Elite Guards" who have more hit points and carry better weapons, such as an AK47 or even a scoped Hunting Rifle. Focus fire on these threats.
    • Data Disk Retrieval: In the command center, on a desk or within a computer terminal, you will find a "Jefferson Data Disk." This is a secondary objective that provides bonus experience and valuable lore. Ensure you pick it up!
    • Medical Supplies: Search any medical cabinets or lockers in this area. You can often find Stimpaks, RadAway, and sometimes even a Doctor's Bag.
  5. Final Encounters

    • After clearing the main buildings, there might be a few straggler enemies outside or in smaller outbuildings. Do a thorough sweep of the entire complex to ensure all hostiles are neutralized.
    • Perimeter Check: check the exterior perimeter walls and any small shacks or tents for additional enemies or hidden loot.

Important Considerations

  • Squad Composition: A balanced squad with a mix of ranged attackers, a close-quarters specialist, a medic, and a character with good Lockpick/Traps/Explosives skills will be highly effective.
  • Ammunition Management: This mission can be a prolonged engagement. Bring ample ammunition for your primary weapons. Consider bringing several weapon types to use different ammo drops.
  • Healing: Keep a close eye on your squad's health. Use Stimpaks proactively, and don't hesitate to use Super Stimpaks on critically wounded squad members.
  • Saving: Save frequently, especially before entering new areas or engaging large groups of enemies.
