Mastering combat in Far Cry 2 goes beyond simply shooting.
- Fire Spreading: Use Molotovs or flamethrowers to ignite vegetation. Fire spreads rapidly and can be used to create firewalls, flush out enemies, or destroy structures. Be mindful of wind direction!
- Environmental Explosions: Shoot red barrels, fuel tanks, or gas pumps for massive explosions that can clear groups of enemies or destroy vehicles.
- Alarm Disabling: Always prioritize disabling alarms at outposts. A silenced pistol shot to the alarm panel prevents reinforcements, making the encounter much easier.
- Buddy Revival: If your buddy goes down, revive them immediately if safe to do so. They are invaluable. If you go down, your buddy will revive you, giving you a second chance.
- Weapon Degradation: Swap weapons frequently to distribute wear and tear. Always carry a backup weapon in good condition.
