At the start of the game, you choose one of nine playable mercenaries: Andre Hyppolite, Marty Alencar, Paul Ferenc, Warren Clyde, Josip Idromeno, Frank Bilders, Quarbani Singh, Xianyong Bai, and Michele Dachss. As mentioned in 'Getting Started', your choice is purely cosmetic. They all start with the same basic equipment and have no unique skills or stat differences. The other eight characters you didn't choose will appear as potential buddies throughout the game. This means that while your initial choice doesn't impact gameplay, it does determine which characters will be available to assist you. Choose the character whose appearance you prefer, as you'll be seeing them in cutscenes and reflections.
