Takedowns are a core mechanic in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, allowing Rex to silently eliminate enemies with brutal efficiency. As you progress, Rex unlocks various types of takedowns, making stealth a highly viable and rewarding playstyle. To perform a takedown, approach an enemy from behind or from above while undetected, and press the melee button (F).
Key takedown abilities include:
- Standard Takedown: A silent, one-hit kill from behind.
- Chain Takedown: After a standard takedown, quickly aim at another nearby enemy and press the melee button again to perform a second takedown.
- Grenade Takedown: Perform a takedown on an enemy carrying a grenade, then throw the live grenade at nearby foes.
- Knife Throw Takedown: After a takedown, throw a knife at a distant enemy for a silent kill.
- Death From Above: Perform a takedown on an enemy directly below you from a higher vantage point.
- Slide Takedown: While sprinting and sliding (C), perform a takedown on an enemy in your path.
