Post-Game Content

Congratulations, Rook Island survivor! While the main narrative concludes, the Rook Archipelago still holds countless secrets, challenges, and opportunities for mayhem. Far Cry 3 offers a robust post-game experience, allowing you to fully explore the islands, complete unfinished business, and truly master Jason Brody's skills.

Unfinished Business & Exploration

The post-game is your chance to tie up any loose ends and discover everything the islands have to offer. Don't rush; savor the freedom!

  • Radio Towers: If you haven't already, activate all remaining Radio Towers. Each activated tower reveals more of the map, unlocks new weapons at the stores, and provides valuable XP. There are 18 towers in total across both islands.
  • Outposts: Liberate any remaining pirate or privateer outposts. Each outpost you capture transforms it into a safe house, complete with a fast travel point, supply cabinet, and a vendor. Capturing all 34 outposts is a significant undertaking and rewards you with the "Full Disclosure" achievement/trophy.
  • Collectibles: Hunt down every last collectible. This includes:
    • Relics: There are 120 ancient relics scattered across the islands, divided into four types: Shark, Spider, Heron, and Boar. Each type offers a unique bonus when a certain number are collected, and finding them all is a true test of exploration.
    • Letters of the Lost: Discover all 20 Letters of the Lost, providing chilling insights into the Japanese soldiers who were stranded on the islands during WWII. These are often found in bunkers and hidden caves.
    • Memory Cards: Locate the 20 Memory Cards, which contain audio logs from various characters, further enriching the lore of Rook Island. These are typically found in enemy camps and outposts.
  • Path of the Hunter Missions: Engage in these challenging hunting quests. Each mission requires you to hunt a specific rare animal with a designated weapon. Successfully completing them unlocks unique weapon upgrades and valuable animal skins for crafting. Look for the hunting knife icon on your map.
  • Wanted Dead Missions: Take on these assassination contracts to eliminate specific pirate or privateer targets. These often involve stealth or specific combat scenarios and reward you with cash and XP. Look for the skull icon on your map.
  • Supply Drops: Participate in timed supply drop challenges. Race against the clock to reach a designated location and secure supplies. These are excellent for earning quick cash and testing your driving/flying skills.

Crafting & Upgrades

With the entire map open, you can now focus on fully upgrading Jason's gear and abilities.

  • Crafting Max-Out: Gather all necessary animal skins and plant leaves to craft every possible upgrade for your gear. This includes:
    • Syringe Kits: Max out your syringe capacity for more healing, combat, and hunting boosts.
    • Wallets: Increase your money carrying capacity to avoid hitting the cap.
    • Rucksacks: Expand your inventory slots for weapons and items.
    • Ammunition Pouches: Carry more ammo for all weapon types.
    • Explosives Bags: Increase your capacity for grenades and C4.
    • Arrow Quivers: Carry more arrows for your bow.
  • Skill Tree Completion: Continue earning XP through missions, exploration, and combat to unlock every skill in Jason's skill tree (the "Tatau"). Focus on skills that enhance your preferred playstyle, whether it's stealth, direct combat, or a mix of both. The "Death from Above" and "Death from Below" skills are particularly satisfying for stealth takedowns.
  • Weapon Unlocks & Customization: By activating all Radio Towers, you'll unlock every weapon in the game. Visit vendors at liberated outposts to purchase any weapons you missed and fully customize them with scopes, extended magazines, suppressors, and paint jobs. Don't forget the signature weapons like the Shadow (10 liberated outposts) or the Shredder (10 relics collected).

Replaying & New Game+

For those who crave more, Far Cry 3 offers options to experience the journey again.

  • Mission Replay: While not a full New Game+ mode in the traditional sense, you can revisit specific story missions from the main menu. This is great for trying different approaches or reliving your favorite moments.
  • Second Playthrough: Consider starting a completely new game on a harder difficulty (e.g., Master) to truly test your skills. This allows you to make different choices (if applicable to the ending you received) and experience the story from a fresh perspective.
